In addition to the "We'll keep your CV on file" e-mail, I had a request to call an agency yesterday, which turned out to be mostly a "What other jobs are you looking for?" call, but the woman was nice and said she'd let me know if anything came up. So there's that.

There is nothing better to wake up to than a long, nice, smutty, wonderful story about my recent (rare-ish) pairing of choice. *basks* And my Firefly download just finished as I was having breakfast this morning. Yaye! Now I can do research (ahem) for stories and shit. Also, pretty.

The President of the Oglala Sioux Tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation, Cecilia Fire Thunder, was incensed. A former nurse and healthcare giver she was very angry that a state body made up mostly of white males, would make such a stupid law against women.

"To me, it is now a question of sovereignty," she said to me last week. "I will personally establish a Planned Parenthood clinic on my own land which is within the boundaries of the Pine Ridge Reservation where the State of South Dakota has absolutely no jurisdiction."

Heh,I've been poking at gmail for a week now, trying to make it display the chat thing, and I finally figured out why it's not. I have gmail set to UK English, and the chat only works for the US English version. *changes* (My gmail username is femgeek, in case anyone wants to come chat me up at work. :D)

And while I'm talking electronics, should I just switch back to pre-1.5 Firefox at home? It breaks the nice style=mine GreaseMonkey script, and it's apparently a memory hog, which, um, on my home computer? I can really, really tell. Sigh.

I know at least one people on my flist is going to have her head explode when she sees this, so: Katie Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica and Nathan Fillion from Firefly to team up in Dracula movie. And speaking of BSG, your queen requires fanfic and an explanation of what is going on in this series. (Yes, I know, TWoP recaps. I shall hie myself hence posthaste, I promise.) I tried watching an ep this week, but I got kinda lost as to plot, so. Yes. Visual aids and stuff also welcome, BTW.

Oh, and hey, UK people, anyone else watch the first part of The Posseidon Adventure last night? I only vaguely watched it, because I saw this part when I was in Belgium over Christmas, but whee, Adam Baldwin! With guns! I'm easy, yes. Shut up.

[ETA2] Being the giant nerd that I am, I've decided that I much prefer the gmail interface over the femgeeks webmail one, and also that I only want to have one of them open at the same time. So I set my femgeeks addy to forward to gmail, set gmail to fake sending from my femgeeks addy, and will hopefully remember to set up a pop account for my gmail, which will hopefully mean that I'll effectively be using my femgeeks addy through the gmail interface. Go me!

Also, if anyone wants gmail, if only for the chat? I have 100 invites. Yeah, you heard me. Feel free to pimp me out to people, too, for those.[/ETA2]

Which reminds me, speaking of Firefly, that I really need to figure out what the fuck is wrong with me that I keep getting into fandoms years after they've gone off the air. No, seriously. People kept trying to get me into Firefly back when it was actually on the air, and I just kept going "Cowboys in space¹? The fuck?" Possibly because I was busy porning with the underaged bespectacled wizard crowd, but still. It went off the air, time passes, the movie comes out, people try to rope me in so I can go see the movie on the big screen and goto the premiere and have a big collective fandom experience², but I was still going "Cowboys in space¹? The fuck?" And then suddenly, it was as if the time since its cancellation had reached critical mass or something, and wham. "Cowboys in space¹? Wicked!" I need help, is what I need. When I was over at yonmei's a few weeks back, they kept trying to get me into SGA--a mission which ruby_fruit has been failing at for months, now. Like I told them, "Once it goes off the air, wait about two years. Then come back to me. Trust me, I'll love it then."

¹ My fingers keep wanting to type that as "Gay cowboys in space." Er.
² You know, I had a moment of self-anger because most of the cast was at the Edinburgh premiere, and I could have met them, but on retrospect, I don't think i would have survived meeting Adam Baldwin's arms in person. And I don't think the security people would have appreciated my trying to stuff Summer Glau down my shirt and taking off with her.

I know, I should be writing, but I just spent two hours faffing about on the internet, reading old metaquotes posts, and poking my co-workers with a plastic pitch fork. Yuo really don't want to know what my brain would produce right now.

Speaking of corporeality (is that a word), there's been another fake LJ death, and I feel like I should reassure you all that a) I am, in fact, real, and b) in case I get run over by a bus or something tomorrow, there will be confirmation from local LJers, at least. I also left instructions for my parents to make sure people know what happened, so if I die, you'll know it's for real.

Oh, and sort of back on the subject of work (because that's all I really write about these days: work and porn, porn and work, and occasionally, a little crack), ( I rage. A lot. And irrationally. )
