Movies and TV shows I need to download because I cannot afford to rent:

  • The Breakfast Club, because I am a bad, bad Eighties Child for not having seen this yet!)
  • Evita. Mmm, Antonio Banderas so hot.
  • Dungeons and Dragons What? It's been, like, two months since I last saw it!
  • Assorted Muppets episodes, because the Muppets rule!
  • Serenity, so I can finally read and understand the spoilery fics.
  • Dr Who, especially the Christmas ep, cause I've not seen that yet, and I need to research. For PORN!
  • 21 Jump Street. What? Johnny Depp!
  • Hell, while I'm on an Eighties kick, I wonder if I can find the Blues Brothers movies.
  • That movie where eighteen-yo Adam Baldwin plays an adorable muppet, aw. Whatsit? Something with a bodyguard. [ETA] Aha! It's called My Bodyguard, and you can find caps here. Dialuppers, beware. Also, contains Matt Dillon.) [/ETA]

Any additions, anyone? Or maybe I'll just watch and recap more Firefly, and after that, it's high time for another LotR:EE marathon, but and then I'll go to sleep and dream weird crossover dreams again, after which I'll have to shoot myself in the fucking face.

Which reminds me, speaking of Firefly, that I really need to figure out what the fuck is wrong with me that I keep getting into fandoms years after they've gone off the air. No, seriously. People kept trying to get me into Firefly back when it was actually on the air, and I just kept going "Cowboys in space1? The fuck?" Possibly because I was busy porning with the underaged bespectacled wizard crowd, but still. It went off the air, time passes, the movie comes out, people try to rope me in so I can go see the movie on the big screen and goto the premiere and have a big collective fandom experience2, but I was still going "Cowboys in space1? The fuck?" And then suddenly, it was as if the time since its cancellation had reached critical mass or something, and wham. "Cowboys in space1? Wicked!" I need help, is what I need. When I was over at [livejournal.com profile] yonmei's a few weeks back, they kept trying to get me into SGA--a mission which [livejournal.com profile] ruby_fruit has been failing at for months, now. Like I told them, "Once it goes off the air, wait about two years. Then come back to me. Trust me, I'll love it then."

1 My fingers keep wanting to type that as "Gay cowboys in space." Er.
2 You know, I had a moment of self-anger because most of the cast was at the Edinburgh premiere, and I could have met them, but on retrospect, I don't think i would have survived meeting Adam Baldwin's arms in person. And I don't think the security people would have appreciated my trying to stuff Summer Glau down my shirt and taking off with her.

I know, I should be writing, but I just spent two hours faffing about on the internet, reading old [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes posts, and poking my co-workers with a plastic pitch fork. Yuo really don't want to know what my brain would produce right now.

I've become a recent Dr Who addict, they're showing it on belgian telly. You can download it on mininova.org. I think they have the christmas special there as well.

I fell asleep during the Blues Brothers movie. In the cinema.

You have seen the Dark Crystal, right?

From: [identity profile] ashenmote.livejournal.com

That would be a sound yes.
It is eighties! It has muppets! It is pretty! And fantasy! You don't mind if it gets a little soppy, yes? Say yes.

It isn't as good as Labyrinth because it has no Bowie and Jennifer Conelly and not the music, but it is clearly the second best thing in that department.

...you have seen the Labyrinth, right? :D

No Breakfast Club? No Labyrinth? no Dark Crystal?

...

*shakes fist*
OMG YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND MY ICONS! REMEDY THAT!

Lola runs? Kill Bill?

Those are not Eighties movies and thus I refuse to watch them.

(It's 24 minutes 'till logout time on a Friday afternoon, do not expect logic from meeee!)

From: [identity profile] ashenmote.livejournal.com

Oh, excellent logic in my book.

If I told you that I don't know Lost or Dr. Who or Firefly or Buffy or Angel or House or pretty much anything people mention all the time on F_W you wouldn't tell anyone, right? You wouldn't tell Ann? ^_^

But there's f/f action in Firefly! o_o How can you NTO watch it? (I keed, I keed!)

From: [identity profile] ashenmote.livejournal.com

Yeah, but is it Batgirl/Spoiler? I'm a snob when it comes to my f/f. :P

I just never had the opportunity. I hope I can make up for some of the stuff I missed when (if) I get my new monitor to work and get my hands on a DVD drive and stuff.

I do that too. I got into HL in a fannish way, what, two years ago. And into ff - as a fannish ficcy thing - this month I think. We're just slow.

SGA OTOH, I doubt I'll ever get into. I don't want to promise anything, but.

YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE BREAKFAST CLUB? Shame!!! That is only like the best movie ever.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

I'M SORRY I SHALL REMEDY POSTHASTE! Actually, I think i may have seen it once, but that was ages ago.

From: [identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com

i'm actually too young to really identify with the john hughes movies as they were in theatres, but they're good, eighties teen-movie fun.

plus, after you've seen the breakfast club you can read high education, which is definitely fantastic.
