So I'm watching The Thief Lord, and they're all so pretty and it's all so slashy, and then I go to the IMDB and realise I'm slashing people born in the Nineties and if you'll excuse me, I need to go sit in the corner and feel old now.

Random stuff in bullet point shape:

  • Saw Eragon yesterday. Verdict: crap, but slashy, pretty-looking crap. I kinda wanna read the books now, but mostly I wanna read slash. *pokes the internet
  • Yuletide is yielding lots of goodies this year, including Asimov slash in a pairing I've been wanting for years, and wheeee!
  • Yuletide also, as usual, is making me want to write slashy non-fanfic fantasy. I dunno how that works, either, but I have images in my head of underwater cities, and cities high in the mountains, and yes.
  • I had more bulletpoints, but they've escaped me. Maybe I should go to bed.

Today I dragged Mags and Ben into a store and tried on corsets to find the size I actually am, rather than the size I remembered being, and then I bought a shiny new outfit. Corset! Wheee!

Picture! )

And then we went to harass Anna and Don, and then we went to see the new Bond, which was ... weird. Good, but weird. And had weird boobies. o_O

I'm feeling like crap today. I think I have some sortof gland infection, which makes me feel exhausted, and I have training today, so I didn't want to call in sick, and now I can't leave because half the team's called in sick and augh. And I'm on my period two weeks after getting off the last one, which makes me cranky like nobody's business. Stupid body. Bah.

I've installed this Google desktop sidebar thingie, and I'm liking the To Do list and the scartchpad, but it doesn't seem to be syncing the To Do list with what I put into it at home. Vive-versa, updating the one at home with what I put into it here, it works fine, but not this way around. Boo!

Tonight, I need to go get my phone seen to, recharge my electricity and gas and bus pass, and try and recover a bit, because tomorrow, we go see Princess Bride and buy a new motherboard and stuff so I can finally have a working computer that doesn't projectile vomit at me everything I so much as vaguely think about YouTube. On Sunday, we write, and on Monday, [livejournal.com profile] dantesvendetta is coming to visit, whee!

More Fun With Flickr: Photos of my flat! )

I have an [livejournal.com profile] elfiepike! (Also a shiny new phone. It takes photos! And I can surf the internet on it EEEE!) I also have annoying neighbours who have loud fights in the middle of the might in our very echo-y hallway, which is less of the yaye. HOWEVER!

[Poll #807817]

SNAKES! ON! A! PLANE! I have no words, I have only interpretive dance. *does*

also, is there slash yet? could someone hit me in the head, please? Thanks.

So the other day, I was watching TV, minding my own business, and suddenly, in one commercial block, there's not only the Snakes on a Plane trailer, but also a new commercial for Pipex broadband with ... David Hasselhoff, King of the Internet. No, really. Go watch it, it's brilliant. :D

I just went on a commenting spree, and I think I got everything, though I skimmed a lot, especially from more than a day ago. If I missed something you think I should see, let me know.

Okay, while I've been a lot less angry about my job lately, there is one thing that still drives me insane, and that's noise. I don't deal very well with loud noises anyway (music is different, because that's not noise, but even so I prefer that to be loud for me and quiet for everyone else, except at a concert or something, because I'm neurotic like that), but it's magnified by a factor of ten when I'm on the phone. I have a hard time concentrating on a phone conversation when anything is going on in the background, especially conversation, because my brain starts listening to the background conversation and then I get confused. So when I'm trying to do my job, which involves lots of telephone conversations, and people are standing right by my desk talking rather loudly, or even jumping up and down (so kidding!) halfway across the floor, it really annoys me, and I don't appreciate having eyes rolled at that annoyance. I'm all for enjoying your job, folks, but that's no reason to impede my ability to even do mine.

In more pleasant news, the (spoilery, natch) new companion photos are very pleasing. Well, in that New Companion is hot, anyway. I'm somewhat less convinced about Tennant's shirt.

Also, have asked CO if she'd like to come along to Pirates, and she was v. enthusiastic, whee!

[ETA]V. important poll. )

[ETA2] ... CO just drive-by chocolated me. Um. Wheeeeee! yes, i'm a dork, shaddup. [/ETA2]

This week at the game: Call of Chtulu! In which I prove yet again that dice? Hate me. *facepalm* But at least I'm still reasonably sane.

Need to get black clothes dye tonight so I can dye the skirt and corset-like top I'm planning on wearing to go see Pirates on Thursday with [livejournal.com profile] troubleinchina and co. Arrrr, matey! :D

*pokes friendslist* Talk to me? I'm boooooored.

You know, the thing about summer that always throws me isn't the heat--I can handle that with shorts and skirts and the airco at work and a fan at home, and by chanting "It'll be over soon," because this is, after all, Scotland, and it will be over soon. It's that it's so light out all the time, especially around this time, as we're closing in on the Equinox, and it gets me more since moving here, because in my mind, the UK is east of Belgium, and I huess I wasn't quite prepared for exactly how long it stays light out up here, compared to back home, and I do like going out for a walk late summer evenings (which i did tonight, hence this conveluted thought), but it kinda throws off my bioclock a little.

In other news, I'm watching this thing on the summer of '89 (what is it about long hot summers and huge changes in the UK, by the way? '67, '78, '89, ... not 2000 as far as I can remember, which would be the logical next step, but there's one more in the series), and um. WTF happened to Jason Donovan? o_O

How I'm spending my Saturday: watching The Sword in the Stone. Also, Evita and Armageddon, which are almost as embarassing, but not quite as embarassing as all three of the Disney movies I was considering at one point. *eyedart* This adulthood thing is not what it was made out to be, let me tell you what.

[ETA] Mmm, Antonia Banderas pretty. [/ETA]

( Feb. 9th, 2006 06:21 pm)

Alright, people, where are you hiding the Priscilla, Queen of the Desert slash? I've read the two at Yuletide, but there has to be more, right? (My dad sent me (a copy of) the DVD, and I'm remembering how much I love this movie.)

Movies and TV shows I need to download because I cannot afford to rent:

  • The Breakfast Club, because I am a bad, bad Eighties Child for not having seen this yet!)
  • Evita. Mmm, Antonio Banderas so hot.
  • Dungeons and Dragons What? It's been, like, two months since I last saw it!
  • Assorted Muppets episodes, because the Muppets rule!
  • Serenity, so I can finally read and understand the spoilery fics.
  • Dr Who, especially the Christmas ep, cause I've not seen that yet, and I need to research. For PORN!
  • 21 Jump Street. What? Johnny Depp!
  • Hell, while I'm on an Eighties kick, I wonder if I can find the Blues Brothers movies.
  • That movie where eighteen-yo Adam Baldwin plays an adorable muppet, aw. Whatsit? Something with a bodyguard. [ETA] Aha! It's called My Bodyguard, and you can find caps here. Dialuppers, beware. Also, contains Matt Dillon.) [/ETA]

Any additions, anyone? Or maybe I'll just watch and recap more Firefly, and after that, it's high time for another LotR:EE marathon, but and then I'll go to sleep and dream weird crossover dreams again, after which I'll have to shoot myself in the fucking face.

Which reminds me, speaking of Firefly, that I really need to figure out what the fuck is wrong with me that I keep getting into fandoms years after they've gone off the air. No, seriously. People kept trying to get me into Firefly back when it was actually on the air, and I just kept going "Cowboys in space1? The fuck?" Possibly because I was busy porning with the underaged bespectacled wizard crowd, but still. It went off the air, time passes, the movie comes out, people try to rope me in so I can go see the movie on the big screen and goto the premiere and have a big collective fandom experience2, but I was still going "Cowboys in space1? The fuck?" And then suddenly, it was as if the time since its cancellation had reached critical mass or something, and wham. "Cowboys in space1? Wicked!" I need help, is what I need. When I was over at [livejournal.com profile] yonmei's a few weeks back, they kept trying to get me into SGA--a mission which [livejournal.com profile] ruby_fruit has been failing at for months, now. Like I told them, "Once it goes off the air, wait about two years. Then come back to me. Trust me, I'll love it then."

1 My fingers keep wanting to type that as "Gay cowboys in space." Er.
2 You know, I had a moment of self-anger because most of the cast was at the Edinburgh premiere, and I could have met them, but on retrospect, I don't think i would have survived meeting Adam Baldwin's arms in person. And I don't think the security people would have appreciated my trying to stuff Summer Glau down my shirt and taking off with her.

I know, I should be writing, but I just spent two hours faffing about on the internet, reading old [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes posts, and poking my co-workers with a plastic pitch fork. Yuo really don't want to know what my brain would produce right now.

Went to see that movie with the gay cowboys. Might write a proper review with spoilers and all once I'm not, you know, broken into a million little pieces. For now, I'm just going to sit here and quietly flail for a bit.

So, uh, yeah. I'll be in my bunk.

Also, possibly the coolest knitting project ever.

I'm having gauge and other issues with my gloves, so I've started another one of those triangular shawls, this one in cheapy acryilic (black with glitter!) for my brother's girlfriend, as a Christmas gift. She'd better like this, is all I'm saying.

[ETA] Fuck yeah, Chtulu is much better than Santa Claus! )

Still haven't managed to get Telewest on the phone, because their lines aren't open yet, but I should still get internet and all by next Friday at the latest. Rejoice!

(Update since I started writing this entry: appointment rescheduled to Tuesday afternoon. Yay!)

Pimping: The Week of Weasleycest.

Downloadable version of the Brokeback Mountain trailer.

Been watching Lost lately, and whoa. So, um, any slash recs? Anyone?

Hm. Odd, I crave Tony Curtis. Must be time for my annual marathon viewing of Some Like It Hot, The Defiant Ones, and Spartacus.
