Three days of hiding from the world because of a stomach bug = NOT A FUN WAY TO SPEND A WEEKEND, KTHX! Stupid body. *pouts*

On the upside, I have now seen the OotP trailer, and can I just say: "OMG TWINS TWINS TWINS BWEEEEE EVERYTHING SO SHINY!" :D I'm slightly disappointed that my boy Lee doesn't seem to be cast for the movie, and pouty about him not even getting into the DA scenes, apparently, but I've learned to live with this disappointment. SHINY! TWINS! BWEE!

This is going to be the BEST SUMMER EVER! \o/ I'm seriously considering taking the week post-DH off so I can bask in the inevitable IMPLOSION OF WANK that's going to go down. I'm a sad, pathetic person with no life, I realise this, but I don't care. The fandom is going to SHIT ITSELF and I want to sit and mock and squee about the book and WHEEE!

... Damn, I need a new HP icon! This one is, like, five years old. o_O (And yes, that's a hint. :D )

Also, in addition to the whole "Bah, stomach" thing, I woke up on Saturday morning with a huge bruise on one of the knuckles of my left hand. I really hope that's just from banging into the wall while asleep, because the only other explanation is that I've been sleepwalking and, er, sleepfistfighting? Um.

So I'm watching The Thief Lord, and they're all so pretty and it's all so slashy, and then I go to the IMDB and realise I'm slashing people born in the Nineties and if you'll excuse me, I need to go sit in the corner and feel old now.

Random stuff in bullet point shape:

  • Saw Eragon yesterday. Verdict: crap, but slashy, pretty-looking crap. I kinda wanna read the books now, but mostly I wanna read slash. *pokes the internet
  • Yuletide is yielding lots of goodies this year, including Asimov slash in a pairing I've been wanting for years, and wheeee!
  • Yuletide also, as usual, is making me want to write slashy non-fanfic fantasy. I dunno how that works, either, but I have images in my head of underwater cities, and cities high in the mountains, and yes.
  • I had more bulletpoints, but they've escaped me. Maybe I should go to bed.

I have an [livejournal.com profile] elfiepike! (Also a shiny new phone. It takes photos! And I can surf the internet on it EEEE!) I also have annoying neighbours who have loud fights in the middle of the might in our very echo-y hallway, which is less of the yaye. HOWEVER!

Bah, I feel like crap. My throat hurts, I'm running a low-grade fever, and there's an annoying headache around my temples. I kinda don't want to go home, though, because they're rather fidgety about sick days, especially in my case (I think I'm still technically in a disciplinary period for this kind of thing, but I'm not sure.)

Anyway, at least I know where my towel is, namely: in my bag. :D And on that note, time waster of the gods!

Also, anyone who's ever watched The X-Files needs to go read this. It made me giggle way too much.

Went to see Fantastic Four with [livejournal.com profile] yonmei yesterday. Diagnosis: gay. Very, very gay. In fact, this is the gayest superhero movie to date, I would say. And it gave me a crossover bunny. (Or actually, [livejournal.com profile] yonmei did), which I will now proceed to try and foist off on someone else. Anyone interested in a FF/popslash bunny? Anyone? Bueller?

Interesting post about Ginny and her "slut" label in HP fandom.

Someone needs to write me more Ford/Arthur slash. *handwave* Make it so!

The lovely and loveable and wonderful Ms [livejournal.com profile] snacky alerted me to this: Space: Above and Beyond to come out on DVD on 6 September. *does a lot of flailing about* Okay, do I pre-order from Best Buy or exercise some patience and wait until it comes out over here? Considering this release is exclusive to BB ... *ponders* It is only £23 ...

Oh, crap, they don't ship outside the US. Booo! *hopeful look at friendslist* Is there anyone who could order for me and let me pay them back by PayPal?

Tonight is an [livejournal.com profile] edinburghers meetup, which I may or may not go to.

First day back at Building In The Middle Of Nowhere. Netscape won't connect on this network, I can't get breakfast here, and if I'd been to get food ten minutes later, I'd not have had any food, because the last veggie sandwich would be gone. Also, the airco here is set a lot lower. Blah. At least we're now on the ground floor, I suppose.

Just a heads-up: I'm likely to be offline most of this weekend, for a number of reasons, but mostly because a) I have a bunch of offline stuff I need to get done, and b) I need to give my wrists a rest, because my RSI has been flaring up thanks to the stupid desk at work. (I finally managed to find a way to sit ar this desk without straining my wrists, but if I don't let them rest now, they won't heal, so.) Not that anyone would miss me, and depending on the state of my wrists, I might get on for a while anyway, but you know.

So I've been keeping myself entertained at work this week by reading the [livejournal.com profile] stupidpetowners archives, and I feel the need to share this gem. I don't think you have to even vaguely know how to take care of pets in order to enjoy that one, because ... really, now.

Also amusing, for the Dr Who fans on my friendslist:

I totally forgot to mention that I saw The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy with [livejournal.com profile] elance last week, and loved it. As I said to E afterwards, if this movie doesn't spawn a whole lot of slash, I'll be sorely disappointed in fandom. So, um. Anyone have any recs for m? Ford/Arthur preferred, but any will do, because woa. They couldn't have made that movie more subtexty if they tried!

Also, I caught the tail end of an item on this on the morning news, and um. The hell? They'll take my chef's knife from me when they pry it from my cold, dead hands, dammit! I use that thing, and I use it a hell of a lot more than I do my bread knife or any the smaller, "potato peeler" knives.

Hey Edinburgh people, anyone feel like going to see The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy with me ? If so, a) when/where, and b) how badly will I get mocked if I bring a towel? What about showing up in a dressing gown?
