Lunch! Also, I made bread! :D Next step in my Let's Fucking Start Eating Healthier, Biznatch plan: breakfast. I'm trying to stop scarfing down eggs for breakfast, as I east a lot of eggs this way, and there have to be better alternatives. So, Weetabix minis with chocolate (OMG what? it's relatively healthy, and it means I get some milk in me!) and yogurt, because I need the dairy. We'll see how this goes. And then, once that's done, we tackle supper. Man, I feel all grown-up, actually paying attention to my food. :/

Also, OH MY GOD WORK WTF IS UP WITH THE BUSY? Srsl, one call after the other, what the hell. :(

( Jun. 29th, 2007 01:44 pm)

Somewhere between three and four yesterday afternoon, my brain went offline, and it's not come back since. I spent an hour yesterday just staring into space and twirling my chair, much to my Level 2's amusement (bastard).

Today's lunch contains dairy! Shock! Gasp!

The one thing I don't like about the laptop lunch boxes is that they're really kinda too small for me. If they'd make a double-height, two-tier set, that would really be ideal. So I'm now eyeing these ones longingly and consoling myself by trying to get more variety in lunchy food, and in trying to spread this new healthy eating to the other meals as well.

See, especially now that I'm back in the habit after a week and a half out of it, I'm noticing how much more I eat, and how much hungrier I am -- in a good way. I'm not sure if it's the lack of empty calories from skipping the sugary danish for breakfast followed by the fluffy bread for lunch, or if it's that the mostly-grazing approach leaves me satisfied until six-ish, at which point I start making supper, instead of doing so at nine, often ten, at which point I'd usually be too lazy and knackered to do much beyond make a box of mac&cheese, and then of course I'd not be hungry the next day for breakfast, and so on. That vicisou cycle is broken, and I'm getting a decent(...ish) breakfast now, followed by a snack (usually veggies) around 10:30, lunch around noon, and some fruity snack around two. I still like me my candy, but I'm not having candy and a lot of other empty calories in what's supposed to be a main meal, which means I'm not filling up on candy. If nothing else, it's a lot better for my blood sugar, as well.

So, uh, yeah. I'm getting back onto an organic fruit and veg box scheme, and trying to buy more stuff in advance, and thinking about preparing some dishes for supper (or even lunch) this weekend and freezing them for the week, and pre-cutting veggies and stuff for lunch. If anyone has any suggestions for recipes or comms I should join, I'd welcome them! (I don't eat meat, I hate bananas, and I don't like vinaigrette, but will at least try about anything else.)

Food post. Mmm, strawberries ...

Spoke to soon about that second week of vacation -- looks like the client are coming over that week to train us. This is the second time they've done this to me, DAMMIT! :( Then again, worst comes to worst I'll just have training in the mornings and take the afternoons off, so it's not too bad. BUT STILL!

In conclusion: OMG LOOK WHAT I MADE BWEE!

Food post, because I've finally both made lunch and remembered to take a photo of it. :D

(I took a second week off because my mum and possibly brother are coming over the week after post-Potterdammerung week, which I already had off. This is the first time in my work career I've had two full weeks off. Er. And people keep asking me where I'm going to go, since obviously that's why I'm taking time off in the middle of summer, right? Yeah, no. And "I'm going TO THE INTERNET!" just gets me weird looks. I'm broke and filled with Schadenfreude, dammit, make my own fun! :(

Foodposts are MIA until I get back on that horse, hopefully tomorrow. Note that I did manage to get my ass uin gear and bought (cost split with one of my co-workers) a coffee machine and one of those pump flasks. \o/ Fresh coffee for the win!

Customer quote of the day: "So where in Scotland are you?" Um. "... Edinburgh, and I'm somewhat frightened you can tell by my accent, since I'm bnot even British." Help, help, I'm being oppressed! O_O

Daily Food Post. Mmmm, nectarines.

Have decided that, since I'm still blocked on writing, I'm going to giev this drawing thing a go again. I'm blaming [livejournal.com profile] ruby_fruit for this, for the record.

Looks like the kerfuffle ought to be winding down soon, hopefully. I know people are still gonna be pissed at LJ/6A for a while at least, but it looks like I won't have to leave LJ to keep up with fandom, which, thank god. I have my entire adult life documented in this journal, folks, not to mention my permanent account, and I dun like changes. I tried leaving LJ for nine months, once, and I'm not doing that again. Although [livejournal.com profile] anatsuno brought up a good point about the centralisation, and I'm going to be thinking about decentralising a bit, probably. Whatever that'll mean for me, of course. And that's the most substantial thing I'm going to say about the situation, because other people are better at that sort of thing, and I tend to hide from kerfuffles a lot, especially when stressed. *goes back into cave to go draw cave art pr0n*

In completely unrelated news: food post! And speaking of food, best bento ever, holy crap!

Also, I need some help with Outlook Express. (Don't look at me like that, they make us use it at work, boo.) I have several shared mailboxes I need to keep an eye on. Unfortunately, the automatic send/receive thing keeps hanging on the shared boxes, and then not telling me about it, so I have to keep remembering to go cancel it and check manually, which means I often don't get e-mails to my own inbox until an hour after they were sent. Is there any way to disable automatic send/receive for the shared boxes?

Daily food post: yesterday and today.

So my dad went to Vietnam a few weeks ago, and apparently brought me back some nice silk scarves. Which is nice enough in and of itself, but apparently he'd bought a bronze one and spent like an hour looking for a dark blue one as well. Because my dad is all about indulging my HP geek tendencies, apparently. I love my daddy. :D

*hides from kerfuffles* lalala i'm sorry, i cannae hear you i have a banana in my ear!

First of all: obligatory food post of the day. I'm thinking of doing pseudo-sushi some time this week -- stuffing wraps and slicing them into "sushi", and doing the same with pancakes for sweetness, something like that. Nor sure what I'd use, though. Suggestions welcome!

Monday Morning Co_Worker Weirdness: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rap in Italian. Er, yes. I-- What?

Today's Lunch: pita-licious!

One: My new backpack is heavy, but holy crap, I can fit all my stuff in there, and everything has its own place! I don't have to dig around for anything! Bliss!

Two: Food post of the day.

Three: XKCD strikes again. (The phrase "I'm from the internet" is somehow hilariously funny to me. I think I need more sleep or something.)

In non-food-related news, I have my job interview this afternoon. Everyone please cross your fingers for me?

(I should also be getting my new backpack soon. I'm kind of ridiculously excited about this. I'm such a consumerist whore sometimes. :D )

Food post! Pictures of Friday's lunch, because I was having trouble getting the photos off my camera in time to post it then, and tomorrow's lunch, in which I get a little experimental, and have trouble with wraps. Anyone know if there's a trick to those, or is it just a practice thing?

Gnr. Have training today from eleven to one. Do. Not. Want. Bleeeergh. And okay, boys who sound like they're the same age as my baby brother do not get to give me lip, dammit. I know what I'm talking about here, biatch, shut up and do as I say instead of arguing that you know better what the problem is. If you know what the problem is, why are you calling me? Yeahk, that's what I thought. Arse.

No lunch box picture again because again I'm an idiot. Oh, well. It's mostly the same as yesterday anyway, except instead of pasta I have cheese and onion pastries. Mmmmm.

God, first call on a Monday morning after four days off, and it's a 25-minute call just getting a bloke to download a zip file, unzip it, and c&p the unzipped file to his memory card. I have not had enough coffee to deal with this. *inhales coffee* (I made the mistake of asking him to right-click on something, and for the rest of the call, every time I asked him to click on something, he asked, "Right-click or left-click?" (Did I mention i mouse left-handed, my mouse buttons are swapped, and I have problems with left and right at the best of times anyway?) A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, sigh.)

Aaaand also, just for the record? Writing e-mails in which you refer to yourself in the third person "A customer has [blah blah blah]" is annoying and snarky and will just waste time because I'll have to e-mail back asking you to clarify if you are the customer or the shop that sold the software to the customer. In future, how about leaving the pre-emptive snark at home and going for clarity instead, eh?

Kids these days, I swear.

So, dad's gone back home after his blitz visit, leaving me with chocolate (yaye!) and tobacco (YAYE!) and sore legs from climbing Arthur's seat on Saturday. Both of us being overconfident about these things (I come by it honestly, folks!), we decided to take the shortest (steepest) route. Yeah. Ow. But worth it for the view!

Forgot to take a picture of my lunchbox today (d'oh!) but I have cucumbers with dip, fresh pineapple, yoghurt, and leftover penne with tomato sauce. Mmm, pasta. And yeah, I have a tendency to eat a lot of the same things sometimes, but keep in mind I'm trying to eat more veggies so I get enough vitamins (even though I technically get all the vitamins I need from my morning pill, but whatever -- the pill is backup, I should be able to get everything but the vitamin D from food, dammit!) and I'm desperately trying to up my calcium intake (see: family history of osteoperosis) without having to actually drink milk, which I loathe. So, there's lots of raw veggies and yoghurt on the menu.

Hm, also, if the weather kicks it up one more notch, I'll have to remember to bring a book and sunscreen so I can go eat lunch outside and ogle the hot girls that seem to bve popping up out of nowhere these days.

Food blather. )

It's barely eleven and I'm already bored. This does not bode well. Maybe the pure undiluted boredom will drive me to write, though.

FYI: Lindt's Gold Bunny is fabulous and totally makes up for me not having "real" easter eggs this year. (I don't truck to this branded eggs nonsense, and my mum wasn't able to come over a few weeks before Easter and bring me proper Belgian easter eggs this year. Woe.) Mmmm, milk chocolatey goodness ...

Happy Easter, everyone! I'm off to take a bath now.

( Mar. 22nd, 2007 01:29 pm)

Yesterday I asked the sammish bloke if I could order a veggie breakfast wrap without the beans (so basically scrambled eggs and cheese in a wrap). Sure, he says. This morning, he goes "Hey, here's your wrap!" I go "Yay," I pay, I go upstairs, I don't actually look at the wrap until just now. I open the plastic and smell something weird, so I open the wrap.

Bacon and beans.

and of course he's left for the day so I cannae even get my money back or anything. And no one here wants to make sure the wrap doesn't go to waste! :(

Work is driving me insane, my computer is moving at moleasses-speed, and I'm generally cranky, but at least the roll of winegums I just got out of the vending machine doesn't have a single black one in it.

You win some, you lose some …
