Went to see Fantastic Four with [livejournal.com profile] yonmei yesterday. Diagnosis: gay. Very, very gay. In fact, this is the gayest superhero movie to date, I would say. And it gave me a crossover bunny. (Or actually, [livejournal.com profile] yonmei did), which I will now proceed to try and foist off on someone else. Anyone interested in a FF/popslash bunny? Anyone? Bueller?

Pimp: [livejournal.com profile] muse_secrets.

Interesting post about Ginny and her "slut" label in HP fandom.

Someone needs to write me more Ford/Arthur slash. *handwave* Make it so!

The lovely and loveable and wonderful Ms [livejournal.com profile] snacky alerted me to this: Space: Above and Beyond to come out on DVD on 6 September. *does a lot of flailing about* Okay, do I pre-order from Best Buy or exercise some patience and wait until it comes out over here? Considering this release is exclusive to BB ... *ponders* It is only £23 ...

Oh, crap, they don't ship outside the US. Booo! *hopeful look at friendslist* Is there anyone who could order for me and let me pay them back by PayPal?

Tonight is an [livejournal.com profile] edinburghers meetup, which I may or may not go to.

First day back at Building In The Middle Of Nowhere. Netscape won't connect on this network, I can't get breakfast here, and if I'd been to get food ten minutes later, I'd not have had any food, because the last veggie sandwich would be gone. Also, the airco here is set a lot lower. Blah. At least we're now on the ground floor, I suppose.

Seconded!

Also, your icon has made me all nostalgic about my first fandoms. Aww.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Heh, glad to be of service. :D First fandoms do tend to occupy a special place in our hearts, don't they? What was yours?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

You are clearly more Old Skool than I am. :D Though I've been told I should give BSG a try, which I may or may not end up doing.

From: [identity profile] perhael.livejournal.com

hehehe. I most certainly don't think of myself as Old Skool. as for giving it a try... I still think the original show is very sweet and fun in that cheesy 70's way, but from what I remember the fandom is quite small and the average fic quality not what you'd like to expect. most of it's OOC mush and bdsm kink. or maybe I just remember it that way because I wrote some horrible, mushy fic for it myself. the kind that you'd like to wipe from your harddrive but don't, for nostalgia's sake. ahhh, nostalgia :D

From: [identity profile] perhael.livejournal.com

ahahaha, yes. I was sixteen as well at the time. my god, the horror. the sappy romance! the MUSH! *shudders*

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

The Mary Sue! I think it's one of the few Fannish Initialtion Rituals I actually went through.

From: [identity profile] perhael.livejournal.com

i think it's one of the few i actually managed to miss. i was far too much about the boy/boy lovin' to include an icky *girl*. *grins*

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Oh, mine was totally a Mother Figure Yenta Sue, which kinda makes it even worse ...

From: [identity profile] perhael.livejournal.com

ahahaha, oh man. rock on. come to think of it, i did have a fic with a Mary Sue-ish character in it. i don't think of her as a Mary-Sue because I didn't base her on myself, but she definitely had some other Sue-ish qualities, her radiating beauty and tragic suicide being among them. *sniggers at 16 yr old self*

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

See, this is why I don't get people who insist on judging HP characters and what they will do with the rest of their lives by how they act at fifteen/sixteen. Because if anyone'd judged me based on my sixteen-year-old self ... Whooooboy.

From: [identity profile] perhael.livejournal.com

omg, i know. i was the most conflicted, anti-social teenager ever. uhh, actually, i guess all teenagers are like that. ;)

lucky for us we turned out so well in the end, eh? *grins*

From: [identity profile] kroki-refur.livejournal.com

Tell me about it. Though I'm more of an angst and torture fan than the porn myself. Good old Coop lends himself so well to angst and torture...

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Oh, so true. It was what attracted me to the fandom (and thus to fandom at large) in the first place, because I do like me a heaping helping of angst.

From: [identity profile] kroki-refur.livejournal.com

OMG! S:AAB! I've been waiting for that since... um... since Tell Our Moms We Done Our Best (*sobs at memory*).

Damn, need to get money and ingratiate self with American friends...

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Ditto. MUST HAVE! MUST HAVE NOW! Not sure where you're located, but you're welcome to come and watch it with me if and when I manage to get my grubby paws on it. :)

From: [identity profile] kroki-refur.livejournal.com

Alas, up until two months ago I was in Glasgow and would have taken you up on your offer. Now, however, I'm in Helsinki and thus it's not so easy :(. *eyes Christmas list*

From: [identity profile] kroki-refur.livejournal.com

Well, I might be around to visit now and then, but basically no. My life is here now, with grumpy taciturn bastard Finns my new people. You must let me go. *looks melancholy and yet perfect*

From: [identity profile] yonmei.livejournal.com

Is there a reason why I haven't leant you Chains of Being, by [livejournal.com profile] the_shoshanna, the Very Best S:AAB novel ever written?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

That's cooper/McQueen, isn't it? I seem to remember thumbing through it in the zine library at Escapade and deciding against it, mostly because it's one of those pairings that I don't get, even though I try. :(

From: [identity profile] yonmei.livejournal.com

But it is good. Really, really good. And it's online (http://www.thisland.ca/fanfic.html#SAAB), too...

From: [identity profile] dine.livejournal.com

I ordered my S:AAB set last week, but if you're still in need, I can order you one.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

That would be fabulous. *clings to you* How do you want to do the reimbursing and such?

From: [identity profile] dine.livejournal.com

ordered! Order Number: BBY01-87851001469 $43.48 (w/ shipping)

PayPal is fine - do you want to wait until it arrives? they won't charge me until it ships. once I get it, I'll verify I still have your correct address, repackage it and send it on.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

You = the best. <3!

If you don't mind waiting until you can send it to me, that may be easier, yeah. Then I can just send you the money for the DVDs plus shipping to you plus shipping to me all in one go. :)

From: [identity profile] dine.livejournal.com

waiting is just fine by me - I think it's going to ship around 6 September, so I'm guessing it could be mid-month before I get it off to you.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

And mid-month is when I get paid, so that works out perfectly! :D

Thanks so much!

*waves hands in front of your face* You must write the FF slash, you must write the FF slash, you must write....*waves hands*

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Noooooooooo!

the logistics would break my braaaaaaiiiiin! although hm, i do have a vague all-talk-no-actual-sex bunny ...

From: [identity profile] babyofthegroup.livejournal.com

...dare I ask what the pairing would be on your crossover? I mean, other than involving Lance for the space travel.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

JC/Johnny. Because obviously, pairing the flamers together just works. :D Plus, Johnny would be all "I'm dating a ,em>popstar!" and conveniently not mentioning said popstar's gender to the others, just to enhance the shock when they do find out, and stuff.

I'd not even thought about Lance in Space, but that would work to get JC and Johnny to meet ...

From: [identity profile] babyofthegroup.livejournal.com

...and you could totally have Lance/Victor. Because megalomania needs company like a fish needs a bicycle :D

You realize that you must in fact write this now? After you finish the Hooker AU [/mild scolding]

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

... Dude! That's fabulous! Yes!

Oh no no no, I'm not writing this, I'm just foisting it off on someone else. I still have the PotC/Dr Who crossover to write.
