Went to see Fantastic Four with [livejournal.com profile] yonmei yesterday. Diagnosis: gay. Very, very gay. In fact, this is the gayest superhero movie to date, I would say. And it gave me a crossover bunny. (Or actually, [livejournal.com profile] yonmei did), which I will now proceed to try and foist off on someone else. Anyone interested in a FF/popslash bunny? Anyone? Bueller?

Interesting post about Ginny and her "slut" label in HP fandom.

Someone needs to write me more Ford/Arthur slash. *handwave* Make it so!

The lovely and loveable and wonderful Ms [livejournal.com profile] snacky alerted me to this: Space: Above and Beyond to come out on DVD on 6 September. *does a lot of flailing about* Okay, do I pre-order from Best Buy or exercise some patience and wait until it comes out over here? Considering this release is exclusive to BB ... *ponders* It is only £23 ...

Oh, crap, they don't ship outside the US. Booo! *hopeful look at friendslist* Is there anyone who could order for me and let me pay them back by PayPal?

Tonight is an [livejournal.com profile] edinburghers meetup, which I may or may not go to.

First day back at Building In The Middle Of Nowhere. Netscape won't connect on this network, I can't get breakfast here, and if I'd been to get food ten minutes later, I'd not have had any food, because the last veggie sandwich would be gone. Also, the airco here is set a lot lower. Blah. At least we're now on the ground floor, I suppose.

Seconded!

Also, your icon has made me all nostalgic about my first fandoms. Aww.

Heh, glad to be of service. :D First fandoms do tend to occupy a special place in our hearts, don't they? What was yours?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

You are clearly more Old Skool than I am. :D Though I've been told I should give BSG a try, which I may or may not end up doing.

From: [identity profile] perhael.livejournal.com

hehehe. I most certainly don't think of myself as Old Skool. as for giving it a try... I still think the original show is very sweet and fun in that cheesy 70's way, but from what I remember the fandom is quite small and the average fic quality not what you'd like to expect. most of it's OOC mush and bdsm kink. or maybe I just remember it that way because I wrote some horrible, mushy fic for it myself. the kind that you'd like to wipe from your harddrive but don't, for nostalgia's sake. ahhh, nostalgia :D

ahahaha, yes. I was sixteen as well at the time. my god, the horror. the sappy romance! the MUSH! *shudders*

The Mary Sue! I think it's one of the few Fannish Initialtion Rituals I actually went through.

From: [identity profile] perhael.livejournal.com

i think it's one of the few i actually managed to miss. i was far too much about the boy/boy lovin' to include an icky *girl*. *grins*

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Oh, mine was totally a Mother Figure Yenta Sue, which kinda makes it even worse ...

From: [identity profile] perhael.livejournal.com

ahahaha, oh man. rock on. come to think of it, i did have a fic with a Mary Sue-ish character in it. i don't think of her as a Mary-Sue because I didn't base her on myself, but she definitely had some other Sue-ish qualities, her radiating beauty and tragic suicide being among them. *sniggers at 16 yr old self*

See, this is why I don't get people who insist on judging HP characters and what they will do with the rest of their lives by how they act at fifteen/sixteen. Because if anyone'd judged me based on my sixteen-year-old self ... Whooooboy.

omg, i know. i was the most conflicted, anti-social teenager ever. uhh, actually, i guess all teenagers are like that. ;)

lucky for us we turned out so well in the end, eh? *grins*

Tell me about it. Though I'm more of an angst and torture fan than the porn myself. Good old Coop lends himself so well to angst and torture...

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Oh, so true. It was what attracted me to the fandom (and thus to fandom at large) in the first place, because I do like me a heaping helping of angst.
