Aaaand we're in the home stretch now.
Heart of Gold
Okay, I'm actually liking the Mal and Inara interaction in this opening scene. They might be growing on me. Like a fungus, get it off! "This distress call wouldn't happen to be taking place in someone's pants, would it?" See, ass, and yet I can't help but giggle like the ten-year-old boy I clearly am. Heeee!
Okay, I dislike them again, I'm good. I kinda dislike Inara, actually, in this scene, with the "Don't call me a whore! Oh, but those girls? Totally whores, I mean, they're not registered, you know." Shut up, Inara.
"Don't know these folks, don't much care to." "They're whores." "I'm in." Still makes me laugh! Aww, Jayne. With his whoring shirt on, and it's totally the one he's wearing in Our Mrs Reynolds, because clearly, he only has the one "good" shirt. Awww, bless. "We're good folk." "Can I start getting sexed already?" "Well, that one's kind of horrific." Heeeeee! Jayne is a simple man of simple needs, Mal, you should know that by now. Also, his little giggle after his "John Thomas" line.
Wash and Kaylee are love! Awwww! So sweet. Also, I love River's excited beaming "Starting!" face. She's so happy about this baby, for some reason! Aw!
Also aw: Jayne drilling (ha!) his whore about how to fight. He's all no-nonsense and effective and if I were this whore, it would totally be turning me on, I tell you what. (LESBIAN!) And then he gives the whores shooting lessons, and I'd like to point out that we don't actually see that it's only the girls out there--in fact, we have no reason to assume the boys aren't there as well, part of the "y'all" that're going to have to "give up a special treat" next time they miss. I'm just saying. And in similar dialogue: "Lean towards women," hm, Mal? That's a ringing declaration of straightness if I ever heard one, heh.
Simon, Inara and River with Pregnant Girl? Kinda awww. Awwwww! (What? I'm not awwing over Jayne, this time, cut me some slack!)
Ewwwww, hetsex! *fastforward* Yay, cuddly!Jayne! Clothed cuddly!Jayne, for some bizarre reason, and seriously, people, if any couple had to be naked, couldn't they give us Jayne and his whore? I'd have watched that scene! Anyway, cuddly!Jayne. And as we see a bit later, he's wearing really tight trousers, there. Er. And again with the tigh holster. Gah.
"This is just a moment in time. Step aside, let it happen." Does anyone else think this is a line that's used in Companion training? It just ... strikes me as if Inara's referencing something, is all. Something Pregnant Girl's supposed to recognise.
Oi! Nobody shoots at Kaylee and Wash, dammit! And how'd these thugs get on Serenity, anyway? But it does give Wash another opportunity to get his Big Damn Hero on. Mmmm. Also, mmmm, sniper!Jayne. And hell, mmmm, angry!Nandy. And Mmm, Zoe, of course, but that's a given.
Man, Jayne does not look pleased with that Rance fellow and how he treats hookers. See? This is why they like Jayne, because he treats them properly, like his momma taught him. And because he cuddles. *nods*
Oh, yay, Inara's leaving! I mean, I'll miss her, but I'd have been glad to see the Mal/Inara subplot gone, if the show'd gone on. Because feh, people. Just, feh.
Lance Objects In Space
You know, it's really difficult to recap this episode, because it's so disjointed, and I like it, I do, but. Yes. Anyway. Drunk!Happy!Simon is adorable and cuddly-looking in his fluffy-looking jumper.
Can someone link me to a decent discussion/theory about River's little dream sequence, there? Because I keep starting to try to make observations, and. Argh. Brain go hurty now. Bad Joss!
People are mean to Jayne, boo, and then Kaylee comes to tell them all about River's little stunt during the Niska thing. And Simon gets his panties in a knot. This is where I really want to kick the boy. I can't remember where I saw this brought up, but someone said that Simon is really focussed on trying to turn River back to how she used to be, which just isn't going to happen, and the best thing for her would probably be to help her cope with how she is now, instead of trying to force her to conform to his idea of who and what she is. His "She's just a kid. She just wants to be a kid." line reflects that, I think.
Aaaanyway, early takes out half the crew, and then Simon shirtlessly wanders over to River's room, and man, has that boy been excercising? Also, since Book was walking through the common areas with a towel, can we take that as official confirmation that passangers (and possibly crew as well?) have shared showers and stuff?
Blah blah blah plot(?)cakes. Simon puts on a shirt, Early is crazy, stuff happens. Simon looks positively cuddly in this outfit. Gah. I bet Jayne'd agree with me, if he weren't busy sleeping and cuddling his pillow. Awwww. I bet Jayne is, like, the clingiest sleeper ever. Cuddly!
"I can't keep track of her when she's not incorporeally possessing a spaceship. Don't look at me." "Well, my sister is a ship. We had a complicated childhood." Heee! I like Simon in this episode, he's not panicking or anything, just calmly trying to make the best of the situation, and getting some snark in when he can. And, as mentioned, looking really good in that outfit.
Simon snarks, "He's really very gentle. And fuzzy. We're becoming fast friends." No, I bet that's what he wrote in his diary about Jayne.
Heeeeeee! I so bet it is. :D And what's with people calling Simon "boy" all the time? He's not that young!
"Okay, I'm putting it away." Nnnoooo, he's not." Heee! I have this slight suspicion Simon is using the exact same voice River used to when she ratted him out to their parents. What? You know that happened! They're siblings, it's what they do! Also, I make my own fun.
Simon proceeds to get himself shot, yet manages to still be heroic and hurl himself at Early, getting trashed for his trouble. Sadly, Jayne isn't there to witness it, as he's trying to get some gorram sleep, dammit! Hee.
Awwww, Mal and River out in the black. It's kinda cute. I'm kinda seeing where the Mal/River shippers come from. And then there's the wrap-up, of which I only retain the fact that Jayne is wearing cut-offs. Yes, I am exactly that shallow.
Aaaand that's all, folks. Goodnight.

Anyway, I liked Heart of Gold - mainly cause Lady Heather got her ass shot (dunno if you watch CSI). And cause Jayne is just so..guh.
