So my brother bought himself a bass guitar. The brand? Washburne. Heeeee! My first reaction: "But Wash is much more of a drummer type!" And then I had to beat myself in the face with a lamp, again. Ahem.

Drummers and bass players have a lot more in common than you'd think. That's why rhythm section often ends up talking to each other while eyeing the annoying guitarist and singer as they talk annoyingly about their hair.

Cough.

Also - Wash can be a drummer and Zoe can play bass, because you know that would be hot like an incredibly hot thing a guitar on fire.

Hm, Serenity: The Band. Now there's an AU worth its weight in crack. (Bassist!Zoe = teh hott, though. Mmmmm.)

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

No, I think Inara is the singer, and Mal is the diva-fit-throwing lead guitarist, clearly. *nods*

From: [identity profile] sparklebutch.livejournal.com

Also producer and writer of lyrics if not everything, because he has to have things his way.

...So what does Jayne do? Backup vocals with Kaylee?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

*mental image, boggles* Roadie, perhaps? And Simon is the (Stage/Tour) Manager?

From: [identity profile] sparklebutch.livejournal.com

NO. They are all in the band! Nine people...

...That must mean they have - damn, I forgot the english word - trumpet and trombone and sax - unit.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Aw, come on, can't you just see Simon getting all flustered because the band members keep messing with his carefully planned schedule, and then he needs to watch Jayne lug some heavy equipment around for a bit?

OTOH ...
Mal - Lead guitar, songwriting (aka, the Noal Gallagher of the group);
Inara - Lead singer (aka, the Liam Gallagher of the group, HA!);
Wash - Drums;
Zoe - Bass;
Book - Rhytm guitar?
Simon - Sax (! Mmmm.)
River - ?
Jayne - ?

From: [identity profile] sparklebutch.livejournal.com

[Aw, come on, can't you just see Simon getting all flustered because the band members keep messing with his carefully planned schedule, and then he needs to watch Jayne lug some heavy equipment around for a bit?] - I can totally see both things, while at the same time they also have a musical part in the band. Bands carry their own stuff around, not everyone is a hugely rich rockstar - especially not the Serenity people - and every band, if they're lucky, has someone who's insane about keeping them on time and off the drugs. Or in Simon's case, getting and administrating the drugs.

Book can do rhythm guitar and backing vocals; Kaylee and River are the backing vocal girls who are sometimes given keyboard or a triangle or a tambourine and are expected to be cute. Jayne can do guitar or bass very nicely. But then, not enough - what are they called? All the - BRASS! I think. Simon+Book+Jayne? No, makes more sense if it's Simon+River+Kaylee. The sax/trumpet/trombone - big band - nine people - thing.

Are we caring too much about this bunny?

OMGPOPSLASH.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Hm, but there's plenty of rock bands with sometimes even more than nine members who don't have a formal brass section. I was thinking, saz, sure, but trumpet and trombone would perhaps not "fit" with their "image". *ponders more*

So Simon is pretty definitely the sax player--possibly comes from more of a jazz club background and isn't used to this rock 'n roll thing, possibly thinking himself better than that, even?

River and Kaylee as background singers, yesyesyes, definitely, and Book on rhytm guitar, and Jayne on second bass (hee, second base! ... never mind), maybe?

Are we caring too much about this bunny?

No such thing, surely? (Especially not at 10:10AM on a slow day at work. :D)

OMGPOPSLASH.

Serenity: The Boyband? Oh, now you've done it ... (SPACE COWBOY!)

Having watched the Grammy thing tonight - sadly - I came to some conclusions: 1, Mal would hate the Grammys, and I can't blame him. 2, Mal and Bono would so get along. 3, Jayne accepting an award on that stage, in a tux or some other fancy type outfit = funny.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

2, Mal and Bono would so get along.

No no no, BAD BUNNY! (Actually, with the facial hair Bono is sporting these days, I'm not sure I actually want to think about that. Is he trying to become Lemmy Kilmister?)

3, Jayne accepting an award on that stage, in a tux or some other fancy type outfit = funny.

Heeeee, yes! Also, kinda hot. But funny!

From: [identity profile] sparklebutch.livejournal.com

Ahh, Lemmy meeting Jayne. Yes.

Forget the tux for a moment, concentrate on Jayne's facial expression and thankyou speech.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

It's difficult not to focus on the tux when my Simonmuse is making incoherent noises of lust!

But, yes. Hee, Jayne speeching, that's just asking for trouble. And he'd just be baffled that they won, and whooo, look at all these people!

This thread rocks :)

What did he say in Jaynestown? Haven't watched it in forever or so...:)

I'm no good with words. Don't use 'em much, myself... (crowd chuckles) But I want to thank y'all, for bein' here, and for thinking so much of me... Far as I see it, You people have been given the shortest end of a stick ever offered a human soul in this crap-heel 'verse... But you took that end, and you, you know... Well... You took it. And that's... I guess that's somethin'.
