So on Thursday, mum and the boys and I went to Spa, where I mainly spent three hours in the sauna, rolling my eyes at the prudish people glaring at me for not wearing my towel for the walk to the shower, and also got on the electronic scales they had. I was expecting to see the same weight I've been for the last nine or so years, 70kg give or take a kilo or two depending on the time of month, maybe a little over that since I've not been getting a lot of excercise lately.

Unless the scales are off, I'm down to 64kg. Which would explain why I'm suddenly in need of a belt all the time, but it's a little worrying because it's been a year since I last actually got weighed, and I'm not sure if this was a gradual loss, or if it happened over the last few weeks, which would be worrying. Actually, it's kinda worrying anyway, because I'm not used to suddenly weighing less than I have since I was 16. I also can't figure out where the weight's gone from, because my tits and stomach and arse and tighs are still pretty much the same size as before.

I'm not sure I like my body changing on me like this without warning.

I'm hoping the scales are off. Sounds like you need to go weigh yourself somewhere else. Or you may be so used to how your body parts look you don't see the change. Please keep us updated on this.

Hugs........

Thanks, pet. *hugback* I suspect the scales are probably right, but I'll be checking with my GP anyway to make sure, even if just to make sure I'm not short on any essential nutrients.

E's off to bed (while I stay up all night), but she had mentioned to me that you'd seemed really thin when you two last met up.

Going solely by your journal, I'd suspect that a few badly-placed illnesses and the stresses of the year might be to blame.

If you're worried, it might be worth a quick visit to your GP...

Huh, well, my mum and gran kept saying I looked like I'd lost weight, too, so I guess it's just that it was too gradual for me to notice myself.

I may go see my GP about this, yeah. I expect it is just (well, "just" ...) stress and stuff, but I want to make sure it's not that, and also that the weight-loss hasn't caused a shortage in iron or something as well.

You might want to talk to E about vitamins and supplements and stuff, if you think you need them - she's been taking lots of different ones for different things.

I definitely noticed the weight loss -- not so much visibly apparent, but easy to tell when hugging you.

Checking it out with your GP is a good idea. I'd be happy to help if s/he recommends supplements, as I've been researching and taking an array of my own lately, and they've helped me feel at least a hundred times better (including the fact that I've not been ill since I started taking them).

Yeah, supplements might be a good idea either way, and I think I may need to take a cold, hard look at why I've been napping and sleeping fitfully lately, as well, because last time I had a phase like this theere were psychological causes, and feh.

Here's a quick look at the most common vitamin deficiencies. (It also has what foods contain what vitamins, in case you want to look at modifying your diet as well.)

It's easy enough to get most of those from just a couple of multivitamins (which are cheaper than taking everything by itself). I'd be happy to take a trip with you to a Boots and/or Holland and Barrett's and help you figure out what you need.

like wibble says... but your assessment that your bodyparts still look the same to you kind of suggests a gradual change. A loss this consequent happening dramatically fast would be something that you notice on your own (from other clues than just needing a belt), I think.

*new year's hugs!* :)

Yeah, I've only once before lost this kind of weight--stomach infection I ignored for well over a week, causing me to lose about 5kg in ten days, and that definitely showed in my face. My face does look a bit slimmer now, according to my mum, but it's slimmer, not sunken-eyes-gray-pallor like it was then, so I do think it was a gradual thing. Still kinda disturbing, though, because now my BMI is 21.4, which the site I found claims is not even near underweight, but I've always learned that "normal" BMI is 20-25, and taking my body type into account, I really don't think I ought to be losing much more weight. (And, frankly, really don't want to lose much more volume, because this whole oh-look-two-thirds-of-my-trousers-are-falling-off-now thing is getting old. Good thing I have wide hips, so at least they're not actually falling to my ankles completely. Huff.)
