I am rather liking this Rome show. Mmmm. Episode one and I'm already seeing slash. Which ones of you were watching this again? I want to read other people's opinions of this.

Am pleasently buzzed from just one glass of wine. Well, maybe not even quite buzzed. A bit fuzzy, maybe. Mmmm.

Mememememe! Er. *coughs* Sorry, Rome totally ate my brain. Especially the all-too-obvious Vorenus/Pullo subtext and the Caesar/Brutus scene in one of the later episodes. I ramble on (and on and on) about it here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/sandrine/tag/rome

Oooh, ramblings, yay! The Corenus/Pullo subtext was ... well, I get the feeling it's going to start giving me nosebleeds later on in the season, let me put it that way. Though I kept having to browbeat my inner Latin geek with alcohol to stop her screeching about English speakers and their annoying habit of dropping the endings of Roman names. ("Octavianus! His name is Octavianus, you cocksucking cuntwhores!")

I'd agree and blast the English speaking world for doing so, but actually, the Germans do pretty much exactly the same thing. I'm more bothered by the show's portrayal for Caesar, to be honest.

yay, Rome! I'm watching it; if you want, I've got all my entries on it tagged here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/deepsix/tag/rome).

Yay! (I love tags, you know what?) Remind me to dig out my fab book about Rome that you totally have to read. But first, come sit on my lap and tell me more about this Rome fic you're writing, eh?

What's it called? Not that I have time to read anything non-school-related just now, but I could probably get my hands on it over break.

and um. It's currently stalled (LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE IN MY LIFE, THANK YOU SCHOOL) but it's an episode-specific story (7, I think?) in which Titus and Lucius almost have sex and then they don't, because WHY? I have no idea. Maybe something else will happen.

They almost have sex in the story, or in the ep? Clarity, woman! They so need to just do it already!

The book is called Rubicon by Tom Holland. Choice quote:

While Pompey lorded it over the east, the man he had replaced indulged himself with the most flamboyant sulk in history.

He also talks about Cicero "bitching" and "moping" and "cheerleading", which gave me the delightful image of Cicero in a short skirt and pom-poms, and gives all the good gossip of the time.

In the story! They never almost have sex in canon, though they should. (Actually, there was that one time... but never mind.)

Oh I'm liking Rome too. Who were you slashing just out of interest? :D

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Right now, those two soldiers. Er, Titus and Lucius? Cannae remember their names right now. They're so adorably in lurve!

Argh! I so meant to watch that. Shall have to poke the husband to download.

You should! I thgink I'll have to keep my inner history geek sufficiently subdued with alcohol to watch it, but. Friends! Romans! Countrymen! Incest! Soldiers IN WUV!
