Okay, so here's the deal. Someone forwarded Polar to a mailing list. I don't like this. At all. in fact, I'm damn near furious. I don't like not knowing where my stories are, and this is only one step better than archiving my story without permission.

So, what do I do? Contact the listmod? Contact the guy who forwarded the story? Both? Neither?

Argh. I hate fandom.

I just have to figure out first why exactly it bothers me so, and why it's such a Not Done thing, y'know?

Because you wrote it? Because it's yours? Think about it this way: if you had a... um, stuffed bear (my brain is dead; indulge me), and everyone was ooh-ing and ahh-ing and you let them have it for a while, you wouldn't like for one of them to loan it to someone, who would then probably loan it to someone else, etc...

It's not important that there's one bear and as-many-as-you-want copies of the story, it's the same thing; worse, even, because in this case, you made it. It comes from you. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't appreciate to have the tapes/pictures of my family holidays given out to random people on the streets by people I don't even know. Doesn't matter if you feel strongly (on a personal level) about said story: since the majority of writers do about the majority of their stories, it is agreed that since, if you don't ask, you have no idea whether X author feels that way, you don't do it. Out of respect, because the author agreed to let you see it, and that doesn't make you someone special who can decide what to do with it afterwards. It's still his/her decision, and for all the guy knows, you could hate the people on that mailing list and have sworn to do everything in your power to never let them read your story.

So, um, there. Basically. Also, there always are people you want to yell at in fandoms when you can't, which, I don't know about you, but frustrates the hell out of me. You have an opportunity, here, and you should grab it. Or incidentally, let me yell at him. ^_^

Also. *poke*

*falls* Ow. *glares*

Would you like to come up here to watch HP with me and possibly/probably some other people?

So my first answer should be: eee! Yes! But instead, I'm being realistic and asking: when, where, how? And are there mean people there? (Better safe than sorry. ;)) And would it be the first, the second, or both?

But really, once all of that is cleared up (especially the three first), it'll either be: "*sniffle* Can't." or "Eee! Yes!". :)

Re:

Saturday 23 November, which is three days after it comes out here. Chamber of Secrets, although it's v. likely we'll watch SS first on video and then go watch CoS in the theatre. (And then we go and have a squeefest in some pub and then we could go clubbing, if people want. ^_^)

I don't know any mean people! So far, we have one fairly certain confirmation. :) And I can have loads of people sleep on my floor (well, on campin matresses, but you know), so there's plenty of room! Mini!HPSlashersCon!

Okay, um. *thinks* We'll probably have finished moving by then, and unpacked the impotant stuff, so that's one thing. The remaining questions now are: will I have enough money (translating: any money), will it be the last week-end before my brother leaves, and, most importantly, can I reasonnably stand to drink and still be able to understand any English?

I'd say the chances are pretty good (well, save for that last one), but I'm not 100% certain. Do you need a yes/no answer at a certain date, or can it just wait some more?

As far as I'm concerned, you don't have to answer definitively until, sya, the weekend before. :) (Although keep in mind that Thalis tickets are cheaper if you book them well enough in advance.)

And actually, speaking of that, sort of, I'll be going to Paris for a weekend some time late October. You're in/near Paris, aren't you?

From: [identity profile] lido-kitty.livejournal.com

Um, yes, so I think I should apologize. And even if I don't, I'd like to. For not getting back to you on either the Paris-thing or the HP-one, which had nothing to do with you (and not in breaking up-talk either :), and everything to do with me and my neuroses. That was at the very least extremely impolite, and also, majorly sucking, and I should have apologized for it a long time ago, but since I didn't, here it is: I'm sorry.

(And since you're extra-special-Melle who even answers smileys ;), I'd just like to say: you do not have to answer that. Seriously, I'm not posting it to have an answer.)

(And, er, yes, out of the blue, much? Birthdays make you contemplate things, it seems).

Re:

Answering anyway, and don't worry about it, pet. I ended up not going to Paris in the end, so. :)
