Recc me somethging. A story, or a fan artist, or a good essay, anything. I like slash, especially Harry/Draco, Marcus/Oliver, and all the oddball stuff. No Percy, please, I'm British Belgian. I'll take gen, and even ron/Hermione het, if it's good. I like manga style art, but "realistic" is very welcome too. any kind of essay is wanted, even pure Draco-bashing. :)

Because I'm pure evil, I'm going to rec you something Hermione/Ron. And you're going to like it, because it's just that good. Read (http://www.pushcart.org/hp/meditation.htm), damn it!

and then some Draco/Professor Mc Gonagall (http://www.pushcart.org/hp/exitinterview.htm) of all things, as well. (though it's really more gen, and a battle of wits)

Re:

And because you're UBERPURE evil, you sent me to a site that doesn't work in Netscape. Admit it, you're secretly Bill Gates, aren't you?

I really liked the H/R, but the D/McG didn't click with me for some reason. I think it's the format. :/

Thanks, though!

From: [identity profile] silviakundera.livejournal.com

Oh, but the H/R, right? Yes! That was my favorite of the two... I think I just really liked Evil!Draco in the other one. heh.

<- so easily pleased by well-written Draco

But, man. I've found that I'm oddly attached to Herm/Ron. They just fit so well along with the rest of my HP OTPs. Draco/Harry, Marcus/Oliver, Ron/Hermione - it's all about the snark and mean! mean!ness disguising love. (thus, my H/R icon labeled "love is cruel" ahahaha!)

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Herm/Ron is, like, OBVIOUS, man. That's CANON! I mean, I don't GET all the H/H and Herm/Draco. Like, what?

And yes! EXATCLY! Now I know why I like H/R!

From: [identity profile] silviakundera.livejournal.com

Oh, yeah! When I read re-reading the books, I was all, "so in love! mean! yay!" because there's just constant Ron and Hermione insulting each other and snarking and being clearly crushing on each other. ahahaha. Which just further convinces me that Draco and Harry are obviously in love, since they fixate and get all mean about each other just like the only canon couple.

In the HP universe bickering = repressed affection.

The D/McG was interesting. And not gen!

Also, must stop picturing characters with movie-actor-faces, because book!McG isn't as old as Maggie Smith makes her. Also, movie!McG should be younger, since her name is on the Quidditch award thingamabob with what looks like "1970".

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

It's been argued that that's a different McG, though.

From: [identity profile] silviakundera.livejournal.com

Sorry about the not gen thing! I was reccing on memory. Now that I read it again, I realize it was more het than I realized.

Though I think it was labeled gen in my mind since the sexual stuff seemed to be part of the power play, and just more of Draco's mindfuck. and. er. yes. My brain = not always reliable. heh.

My favorite HP artist is, by far, Lisa Rourke. She doesn't do particularly any pairings, except Ron/Herimone (Oh yeah, and one Harry/Ginny, but you can skip that). And she's just one hell of an artist. Close second favorite is Belphegor, she's got some really good pics.

Re:

Okay, I ADORE the Lisa Rourke pictures. Fuck. Goergeous. And yes, Belphegor also v. good. Thank you!

You have read Lust Over Pendle, haven't you? Really long, lovely Draco/Neville (no really, it works!) by A.J. Hall. It's at both Schnoogle and ff.net, I believe, but here's the direct
link, along with the cool vintage "cover" for the novel.

I saved this story to disk as well as printing it out in a binder - it's just that good.

It bills itself as a comedy of manners and mystery. Not only does it successfully straddle two genres, but it's also a plausible (!) Draco/Neville, and bloody funny to boot. It opens with some embarrassing photos, Narcissa Malfoy and Neville's grandmother. It ends with ... well, bathroom appliances, Dudley Dursley's girlfriend and general insanity. I cannot recommend it highly enough. (from Bright, Shiny Objects recs site)

I just wanted to point out that thanks to you, I not only stayed up until half past two last night, but I'm also still at work right now because I wated most of the day reading that blasted thing.

Thank you. I'll be more eloquent when I've had food and a nap.

Isn't it the best way to spend hours and hours? I really do love this story, and am glad you did too - wish AJ Hall would write another one (why yes, I'm greedy) soon.

Re:

Oh, god, is it ever! I was alternately awwing and giggling. I have to reread this to quote various lines, really.

And yes, I want more! I really would like to see a prequel, see how Neville and Draco fell in love and all. Sigh.

From: [identity profile] dine.livejournal.com

ooooh, Prequel!

what a glorious idea -- yes, we need to know exactly how Draco & Neville met, more info on the War, and lots and lots more of the lovely loony details (like the rubber duck) and inspired OCs. please write and request same? I've already written gleeful feedback, and don't want to be a stalker.

I haven't checked out many of the recs on this page; but since I adored LOP so much, I'm hopeful I'll have fun when I do.

Ok. You said you'd be willing to read Hermoine/Ron if it were good. So, here are a few reqs. Try Arabella over at Sugarquill.net. Her story Not as a Last Resort (http://www.sugarquill.net/archivehp/arabella/lastresort.html) is pretty good. Sweet and kinda original. There is a nice sequel to it if you like it.

Also try - After the End</> I still say is an awesome fic - with a ton of Ron/Hermoine, with just as much Harry/Ginny and many other characters randomly throughout. There is a definite Remus/Siruis slash thing going on - at least I picked it up. I can't recommend this fic enough. It's really long, it's not done but it's very, very good.

There are more, if you like either one I'll send you some more!

I'd love to be recced any well-written Ron/Hermione that does not involve Harry in a het relationship. (Well, if it mentions off hand that he's dating some girl it won't matter to me. Or if it just doesn't deal with Harry's romantic life, that's great. But I wouldn't be able to read a fic with a Harry/Ginny subplot, because... no. Ron/Herm is the only het I can do in the fandom.)

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Hey, thanks! I'll try the first this evening, but um. Like Silvia, I cannot read any other het in this fandom, sorry. (Also, I have this aversion to WiPs.)

Oi, what's being Belgian got to do with not liking Percy?

I like Percy! *scowl*
