Nodnol countdown: 2 days

Yeah, the knee? Not really better yet. >_<

Everybody needs to go read Everyone Knows Everyone right now! Because holy shite! Nelly/Justin. Hothothot and dude, did I ever mention my kink for interracial pairings? Because the contrast and the hot and the -

I'm just dead now. Wow. What a way to start the day!

Quote o' the Day:

For the love of several holy deities on a unicycle, why must people be so stupid.

ChrisPuppet: ?
Melle: It's the mental image! The mental image!
Koda: Hey! That's my line, bitch!

Seriously, though, can someone explain to me why lotrips fandom is littered with idiots? For the love of fuck, people, use your goddamn brains for once! Allow me to point some things out to you lot (or rather, them lot, since none of them read my LJ that I know of; though if anyone wants to pass this on, do feel free):

  1. None of us are cooler than each other. Lotrippers are not cooler, better or smarter than people in any other RPS or FPS fandom. We write slash. We are all dorks. The fact that the FellowShip guys act snuggly and cuddly and whatever in public does not make it more okay to slash them. The fact that some of us slash boybands and you slash actors does not make our stories worse than yours. I repeat: we're all dorks. Get over it, embrace your dorkiness, and internalise the concept of solidarity amongst slashers.
  2. Don't act like a stalker. No, you should not be ashamed for writing RPS. No, you should not hide your stories behind passwords or secret URLS. But to go shove your stories into the subjects' faces is exactly the kind of stalkerish behaviour opponents of RPS have been accusing us all of for the two years I've been into RPS, and apart from the possible baclash this could cause to RPS, it's just plain rude towards the actors in question.
  3. Don't make assumptions. No matter how slashy the guys may act, the only one of whom we know he's gay is Sir Ian. Whatever you may think, unless they actually come out explicitaly, you cannot claim "Look at how they act! They must be fucking!" and mean it. The same goes for "Look at how they act! They must know of slash, and they're encouraging it!" Just, no. You don't know these people. Don't make assumtions.
You'd think these things spoke for themselves, but obviously, they don't, not in this fandom. And that, lads and lasses, is why I left it before I was actually into it. I've had enough heartache. However, I reiterate, if anyone wants to pass this on, do feel free. Fucking lying idiotic bints!

Wrote a scene of Pride yesterday, and badgered Beth into giving me advice on which POV to write the second to last scene from. Cue scary music.

I may be the last person in the free world who hasn't seen LOTR and couldn't pick most of the actors out of a lineup, so this is the first I've heard of this. And I'm utterly appalled at this person's behavior (but possibly more appalled at the people who praised her for it) But I had to comment on this...

I repeat: we're all dorks. Get over it, embrace your dorkiness, and internalise the concept of solidarity amongst slashers.

Yes, that's it! I want that on a t-shirt for the next slash con I go to. This applies to a whole lot of situations across fandoms. I don't care if someone wants to read/write about hobbits or cowboys or flying monkeys, so why should they care if I want to read about sparkly danceboys (and their hot new rapper boyfriends ;-)?

Re:

It's something we've been saying throughout the RPS "wars" and the boybands discussion and whatever. We're all slashers, we're all fanfic writers. The outside world doesn't make the distinction between RPS and FPS or whatever. To them, we're all dorks.

Dorks of the world, unite! Throw off your chains and become one with the Glorious Revolution!

(Sorry. Having a Che Guevara moment, here.)
