But. They live in this city! We (according to Steve, I didn't see him myself) passed Tom Barman last Saturday! They speak Dutch! I can't write in Dutch anymore! (Let alone in Antwerps dialect.)
But they speak some English, don't they? And if not, you could just tack on an author's note stating that the whole story should be presumed to be translated from Dutch. I mean, I've seen Legolas/Elrond fics where they speak only in English, even though there's no logical reason why they shouldn't be speaking Elvish instead, other than that the author couldn't write it. Same thing here. Now you have no excuse!
