This is making me realise I have some serious Draco issues. Self, he's a fictional character! Kindl stop being freaked out/scared/whatever because "people are judging him for what he's like at fourteen!" Because really, if you use that little grey mass that is your brain, you know they're completely right.

And you know, i'll take the issues over the fucking apologists any damn day, thanks.

Oh, no, really, I mean. I understand the dislike, intellectually. (And somewhat emotionally, too. i want to give the boy a kick in the backside somethnig bad!)

Like I said, personal issues and experience with people who were complete bastards at 14 and turned out to be okay people in later years makes it hard for me to completely condemn him.

And frankly, what you people said doesn't come close to what I saw Back In The Days before the whole Draco-hype. (Never thought I'd miss that time. I want my fandom back! ^_^)

Could I believe a fic where Draco changes, evolves and gets past all his many, many, many...issues? Yes, but it would take a writer of exceptional talent making exceptional effort to pull it off and thus far I haven't seen a one that I buy. More often it's like that Lady of Shalott series everyone was so wild over: "Draco raped me! And just like that, we're in *love!* Wow, *that* was easy!" Give me a fucking break.

See, I'm not even talking about fanfic here, I'm talking about the actual books. I seriously don't believe JKR's just gonna have gim join the DE just like that, simply because he's a Malfoy, and will follow in his father's footsteps.

As for that series, I didn't read that as such. To me, it's all Stockholm syndrome, and quite brilliant at that. (I know there's an "alternate ending" out there where they do "fall in love", but I'm not fond of that.)
