Amy ([livejournal.com profile] synicism) and I are planning an RPS zine, if we can get enough submissions. Would any of you be willing to submit something? There would be free zines for submitters, of course.

From: [identity profile] asilvahalo.livejournal.com

is there anything i've written that you think would be suitable for publication?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Okay, Canada, In the middle, and Hardware, if it's finished by then. And/or anything else you may want to write specifically for the zine.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re: I could...

Any RPS. Preferably something longer, since I think a lot of people will be submmitting shorter stories, and I'd like to have things of all lengths. :)

(Watch as my mind goes to the gutter.)

From: [identity profile] beanside.livejournal.com

*snerk*

Careful who you say longer to...I've got a lovely Metallica one that only runs around 370 pages...

But, I've got a couple that are decent length, I think. I'll take a look.

Re: find me some other famous live person

I just had an evil thought.

With John, why does it have to be a live person?

Gives a whole new meaning to the term mind-fuck...*veg*

From: [identity profile] icanreadyourmnd.livejournal.com

mind-fuck

I'll store the idea in the back of my brain. I mean, heck, they sorta explored the human/ghost love story in SANDCASTLES.

And if the person who died doens't *know* they'er dead they can be on this plain for a bit; maybe John could be helping them to accept the fact that they have to cross over but... well, something else happens too. Hmmm. So, who, then?

Re: mind-fuck

And in Ghost, too.

I can't think of anyone offhand except maybe River Phoenix, but that's partly because I have this thing about him talking to John.

From: [identity profile] icanreadyourmnd.livejournal.com

Re: mind-fuck

so then it has to be your story, kiddo... :)

which leaves me back at the beginning of my own quandary. There aren't too many real people I want much to slash other than John, so I gotta wait for either the right pairing for me or find someone to pair with John (other than Methos, who, unfortunately, is not real).

but if this scenario works for you - then go for it, kiddo. we need more new blood in the JohnFic area anyway... :)

Questions:

1. What's the deadline?
2. I'll probably try to write a new story specifically for the zine, but in case that doesn't happen, is there any particular story of mine that you would like to publish?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re: Questions:

1. To be determined later, once I'm sure there's enough candidates to submit.

2. I'm rather fond of Bodies, actually. :)

From: [identity profile] queenofhell.livejournal.com

I'd submit something. I write pop fiction (*NSync, Britney, Christina, occasional BSB, etc.), and my site's here (http://www.rightthisway.net/candy) if you wanna check it out.

From: [identity profile] queenofhell.livejournal.com

Re: You do lovely stuff

Dude, totally fine with me. (Sorry it took me so long to respond. I never check my email.)

From: [identity profile] ex-shadowlig161.livejournal.com

Uhm. I'd submit something, except I really don't think any of my existing work is up to publication standards. I might be able to write something new, though..

Re:

Nonsense! (Um. The Sid-n-Johnny-in-the-airplane thing, whose title escapes me atm? I'd like that!)

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Ooooh! That'd be great! We'd want as wide a range as possible, so yeah! Who're you slashing?

From: [identity profile] sorchar.livejournal.com

Well, I think I kinda have to let you read it... *giggles* It's an odd one. Here it is. There should be a banner up top there, I have no idea where it went.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Um. I love it! :D Even if I had like no idea who those people are, but that's me and my lack of knowledge of American history for ya. I'd love to have that for thek zine!

From: [identity profile] sorchar.livejournal.com

Re:

Then you are welcome to it! Should I send it to you in doc form, or can you grab it from there?

From: [identity profile] katari.livejournal.com

Melle?

Are submissions all you need, or do you need people to be editors or anything?

From: [identity profile] mydarkstar.livejournal.com

Editors!

If you're taking editors, can I be one as well? I think you can guess which fandoms I'd want to work with...

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re: Editors!

Oh, I'd love to have you! (Er. That didn't quite come out the way I intended. Um.)

I'm guessing one of them starts with a C and ends in re? :) Oh, speaking of that, if you have any recc's in fandoms i'm unfamiliar with, please let me know? I seriously odn't know enough about some fandoms to be able to judge.

From: [identity profile] mydarkstar.livejournal.com

Re: Editors!

Well, yes, Cure, and U2, and Sex Pistols, and Beatles, and Depeche Mode, and Duran Duran, and...I'm sure you can guess what sorts of things I like. I don't really do actorslash at all, so it'll have to be musicianslash, but other than that, I'm pretty flexible. (Erm...)

Do you read Cure fic at all? I've kind of drifted from the fandom recently, but one stand-out story that immediately comes to mind is tangerine's gorgeous The Walk (which, okay, I'm biased about, since I did beta it). ta's site is down indefinitely, and she didn't have it archived anywhere else, but I can mail you a copy if you're interested. Another good one, which I'd also have to mail, as the archive it was on appears to have vanished forever, is Adrift and stawberry girl's A Night Like This, a historical AU featuring Perry as an innkeeper, Simon as a witch, and the rest of the band (current lineup) as thieves. Purrr. However, it never did get finished, so it might not really be suitable for publication. Just recommending.
Also, in the world of Duran Duran fic - if that doesn't completely squick you - there's the Horrible Crush trilogy by "Alizarine," a pen name for Jemiah Jefferson, whose original vampire novel Voice of the Blood (http://www.jemiah.com/writing/novels/vox1.html) can be found in stores everywhere (and is fucking brilliant).

Want any more?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re: Editors!

Somehow, between the time I wrote that and now, I've managed to get sucked into Cure fandom. Funny how that happens, innit. You go about your business, then you get shown a picture of Perry and Simon kissing, and suddenly you're shaking your fist at people and defending Lol.

No, I'm sane, really.

So yeah, please mail me those stories? I'd be ever so grateful. :)

From: [identity profile] mydarkstar.livejournal.com

Re: Editors!

Gack - forgot to link The Horrible Crush (http://there.indyramp.com/fiction/crush.html). It's really good, I swear...

From: [identity profile] starkiller.livejournal.com

Sure, I would. What are you looking for? What pairing? Format? Length? When do you want it by?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Anything m/m or f/f (or m/m/m or f/f/f, or ...), any pairing (musicians, actors, whatever). What do you mean by "format"? Any length, but since most people'll be submitting shortish stories, I'd like some more longish things. Deadline to be set once we have enough candidates. :)
coneyislandbaby: (Default)

From: [personal profile] coneyislandbaby

I'd love to!

But I really need a deadline, because otherwise I'd end up procrastinating forever *sigh*.

And just out of curiosity (because I'm not submitting the one I'm working on because I've talked about it too much online for it to be fair) would you consider m/m/f, or do you want to keep it strictly pairing-centred?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re: I'd love to!

Well, as soon as we have enough candidates, we'll settle on a deadline. :)

Hm. I don't know. I'd have to ask Amy, but I'm personally not too opposed to it. Of course what I'd like is threesomes, or even better: tryads! (Three-way relationships.)
coneyislandbaby: (Default)

From: [personal profile] coneyislandbaby

Re: I'd love to!

Just let me know :).

I have to admit, I prefer it when all three are doing each other.

Although that's probably due to a traumatised reaction to a story that was advertised as a threesome and turned out to be het-with-two-partners and badly written for a fandom I was dying for slash in.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re: I'd love to!

OKay, deadline's been decided on. 1 February 2002. :)

And yeah, ick. Poor thing.

Re: I'd love to!

Great! I can start thinking of who/what/where/when to write (yes, all of the above are considerations)

I mean, not only was it awful, it was in a fandom that was of uniformly high quality, no matter the genre.

Er...I doubt any are, but are there any of my existing stories that you might be interested in? Just thought I'd ask, but with one or two possible exceptions, I don't think I'd want them to be published.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re: I'd love to!

Hm. Actually, I'd much rather have at least some new stuff (not just yours, but in general), if you don't mind. :)

Re: I'd love to!

No problem.

I was just thinking, would you like Joaquin/River? I've been thinking about writing them for a while.

I was thinking Matt/Ben, but I'm sort of going to be burned out on them by the time I get this current monster done.

And if the muse co-operates, who knows, you might get both.

From: [identity profile] zillahcross.livejournal.com

I will, Melle, if I have anything you'd like to use. Happy to *g*
