Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence
and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are

Passenger jet crashes in New York
ASSOCIATED PRESS IN NEW YORK
A plane crashed this morning in the Queens borough of New York City, and buildings reportedly were on fire in the neighborhood. The plane crashed shortly after 9 a.m local time (1400 GMT) and thick, black smoke could be scene in televised reports.
The type of plane and number of people aboard were not immediately known. CNN reported that American Airlines confirmed the plane was an inbound American Airlines Boeing 767.
The airline told The Associated Press it had no immediate comment.
NEW YORK (CNN) -- An American Airlines jet crashed Monday on takeoff from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. The plane went down in the Rockways section of the New York City borough of Queens.
CNN confirmed the plane was American Airlines Flight 587 from New York to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The plane was a Boeing Airbus A300. American Airlines did not immediately release the number of passengers on the flight. The A300 can accommodate up to 266 passengers, according to Boeing's Web site
At least four houses were on fire, and a huge plume of smoke could be seen rising from the site.
All three New York City-area airports -- Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark -- closed after the crash. Mayor Rudy Giuliani declared a Level One emergency, mobilizing all available police, fire and emergency personnel.
So, small plane, and according to zero3kid, who's watching the news, there's no indication that it's a terrorist attack. I'm still somewhat weary since it's the first working day after the 2-month anniversary (as well as Rememberance Day), but um. Breathing again.
femgeek: To me, it's mostly that I can't find any female character that interests me enough; I mean, the two main shows for f/f slash are Xena and Buffy. Xena (and Herc) I don't like as shows, because of this whole AncientMythology!snob thing I have going on. Buffy? I like Cordy, and Faith, and Willow. Neither of these three are really slashy with one another. Tara and Anya I've not seen enough of to like or dislike. Joyce I hate with a fiery passion, but that's mostly me and my trauma's re: Faith, Hope and Trick. Buffy ... I know, it's "trendy" to not like her, but. I just don't. She doesn't hit me where it hurts, so to speak. She's a Buffy Sue, IMO.
So, yeah. I'll prolly come up with a more in-depth thingamajig when I've slept and my stomach isn't a big ball of tightness and my brain isn't being eaten by teenaged muses and my catisn't nibbling at my hand, but my main problem with f/f slash is basically that I'm not interested in most of the women I see on tv or in the movies, let lone in their relationships.
This is actually something I was conna babble about some time soon -- the lack of female charactres (and relationshpis!) I can relate to in tv shows, movies and books.
