People! Have we not been over this whole RPS thing? Apparently not. Apparently, with The Fandom That Ate Tokio speading like wildfire among Buffyslashers and the likes, and 'taking over' previously good and 'respected' authors, people are getting cranky about it again. Telling us we should keep it private, and the wrath of TPTB will rain down on us and all the good little slashers will point and laugh at us.

(Note that I only briefly skimmed Te's blog, btw. Didn't want to read that argument again. I'm tried and true in the 'pro'-RPS fight, babies, i've seen all the arguments.)

I should update the FMO, since it's somewhat out of date, but the main points still stand:

  1. RPS is NOT ILLEGAL! (FPS, btw is illegal, or at least more potentially illegal than RPS.)
  2. RPS is not stalking, or invasion of privacy.
  3. Yes, RPS may hurt the subject, but FPS may (and has) hurt the actors. Is that hurt somehow less valid than RPS subjects? Also, there's lots of hurtful things online. It is not our job to make sure the internet is a safe place for anyone, not even for a celebrity.
I take the fight for RPS, for the right to put it on websites as public as FPS sites and not be bugged about it, very personally. Because the freedom of speech, and even more importantly freedom of expression (as in, the way one expressed oneself) to be one of the mosyt fundamental rights of humanity. If you agree, how about signing my 'petition', please? It won't make a difference, but it'll make me feel better knowing that there are people who believe in unconditional freedom of fiction.

Ta.

I like music. I like all sorts of music. For some reason it has to have vocals for me to be able to like it. Usually. I mean, I love Orion, and there's some dance music I like. So basically, while I'm more likely to like some kinds of music more than others, I don't think there's a single genre I don't like any song at all in. I'm a musical omnivore.

And you know, wether I like or don't like the music has no effect at all on wether I like or don't like the people behind it, or on my ability to slash them.

I like NSync. Their music, yes, but also themselves. I think Chris is a freak with a wonky sense of humour, JC is a spaz who writes cybersex songs, Joey is cuddly, Justin is funny and adorably young and puppie-ish and Lance is a southern belle flameboy. Sure, some of all that may be manufactured, but I really cannot believe all of it is. There has to have been something there to build on, yo. Plus, as Gui said, even the Beatles were manufactured to some extent. Hell, as I said in response, even Bob freaking Dylan's image is largely manufactured.

And frankly, if you're judging fanfic based purely on the fandom, if you're judging writers as people as as artists based on the fandom, then you're prejudiced, pure and simple.

I don't need to do the google search to know what i'll find. Either nothing, or just my main page. In which case people have to follow a bunch of links before getting to the actual rps, and by that time i'm sure they'll know what theyr're in for.

So yeah. Fuck you.
