People! Have we not been over this whole RPS thing? Apparently not. Apparently, with The Fandom That Ate Tokio speading like wildfire among Buffyslashers and the likes, and 'taking over' previously good and 'respected' authors, people are getting cranky about it again. Telling us we should keep it private, and the wrath of TPTB will rain down on us and all the good little slashers will point and laugh at us.
(Note that I only briefly skimmed Te's blog, btw. Didn't want to read that argument again. I'm tried and true in the 'pro'-RPS fight, babies, i've seen all the arguments.)
I should update the FMO, since it's somewhat out of date, but the main points still stand:
- RPS is NOT ILLEGAL! (FPS, btw is illegal, or at least more potentially illegal than RPS.)
- RPS is not stalking, or invasion of privacy.
- Yes, RPS may hurt the subject, but FPS may (and has) hurt the actors. Is that hurt somehow less valid than RPS subjects? Also, there's lots of hurtful things online. It is not our job to make sure the internet is a safe place for anyone, not even for a celebrity.
