As promised, pictures of the finished shawl, plus something I did a few months ago:

Triangular Scarf One
The finished scarf. You can sort of see the pistures in this one, but not quite. Stupid dark colours. Stupid crappy camera.

Modelling the scarf. Ignore the weird look on my face.

Cross-Stitched Highland Coo
I picked up this wee cross-stitching set for a fridge magnet on holiday with my parents this summer. Turned out rather nice, I'd say.
Cross-Stitched Highland Coo

Man, my camera is crap.

[ETA] It's 03:22 in the morning.

(Partial) Stash One (Partial) Stash One
The result of an evening of skeining and balling yarn. Left to right: - About 140m of rainbow yarn, bought fot 50p as scrap yarn; - About 750m (800g) of teal/blue (actual colour is a bit lighter than it looks in the picture) Aran yarn, very nice and probably destined to become another triangual shawl; - Roughly 1,000m (800g) (including the ball) of red Aran yarn (actual colour is a touch darker than it looks in the picture--have I mentioned my camera is crap?) for Gryffindor scarves and other projects; - A ball of a bit over 200m (100g) of dark yellow / golden yellow Aran yarn, actually two balls of 50g meant for double-knitting, for Gryffindor scarves and other projects. Not pictured: Another six 50g skeins/balls of the yellow, plus assorted scraps and leftovers, yet to be skeined and/or balled.

At least now I'm vaguely organised, and prepared to start the Gryffindor scarves. Though I'll probably need to go and buy a smaller pair of circs for those. Man, I really need to buy one of those Needlemaster things.[/ETA]

The coo is adorable.

And I love the scarf as well, but I don't have the patience to start one alike... You're amazing.

Innit just? ^_^

Eh, it only took me a week or so, and that's including last weekend, when I couldn't knit a lot cause my gran was here. Once you get going, it's really easy, actually. :)

It is! I love it. And I'm totally going to do that pattern with the thinner blue yarn if and when I finally get that Needlemaster thing. :D

I like both scarves. The knitting looks nice and even. I tend to have thick parts and thin parts. Then again, I haven't knitted in years.

The magnet cross-stitch is adorable.

Yeah, I used to have that problem, but a lot of practise seems to've cured that.

And thanks!

I love love love love the shawl!!!! I want to make one too. And the magnet is too cute!

Very thick. Like, for size 4-5 needles. Makes the shawl a bit too stiff for my liking.

Hm. Definitely going for thinner then, I don't want too stiff. I tried different size needles and liked knitting with the 3 and 3,5 ones best anyway. :)

You bought a Cross-Stitched Highland Coo? You... you... you tourist, you!

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

I bought the kit, then cross-stitche it myself! In my defense, I originally bought it so I'd have something to do when i got car sick and thus couldn't read. :P

a) COO! I love me some highland coos. Of course, I don't LOVE the coos, I just love the coos.

b) ball winding... Check out the Nostipinde (http://www.hatchtown.com/nostdir.html). No, it's not mechanical, but you can do the same thing off of a stick if you have to, and the yarn ends up very, very cool.

c) Nice stuff! I'll make a shawl some day. I just finished the first of two gloves (my first pair!), and I'm still enamored of small projects.

Thanks for that link! I don't know if I'm quite handy enough for that, but it's something to consider.

Heh, well, I have copious time at work to knit, so I like a big project to get my teeth into. Though I'll also be doing those broad street mittens you linked me to a while ago, but only at home. (I'll need to concentrate on that, and I don't want to try and transport DPNs.)

I tried the 'cigar (http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer05/PATTcigar.html)' gloves, but I left all the fingers short. Used self striping sock yarn, and they're mighty purdy. Of course, I have little to do with the striping part, but it is nice.

DPNS have scared me up untill about a week and a half ago.

Oooh, purdy! Mine will be black, and I think I've found a pattern I can work with. I think.
