Current row count on the shawl: 160. Have decided to just go on until I run out of scrap yarn, which at this point is another ... 30-40 rows, which should take me nicely to 200 rows. I hope. I kinda like this pattern, though it's obviously meant for a thinner yarn. I'm thinking I might make another one in the pretty blue/teal yarn. It won't use up all of it, obviously, but that'll make a nice present, and the thinner yarn should eliminate my current problem with squishing all the stitches onto the needles. (Plus, maybe by then I'll have that Needlemaster thing! :D)

i love how i've apparently managed to infect several people on my friendslist with the knitting bug. muahahaha!

My bookshelves get delivered tomorrow. I am ridiculously excited about this. Now all I need is something to hold my DVDs--or possibly I just need to do some weeding in my video collection. I think the latter is actually a better idea. All of this of course assumes I'll manage to got the shelves asembled and in their place on my own. Er. Help?

I think I'm going to slack off this afternoon. Bugger this work thing, feh.

Looks easy to assemble. You'll manage it!

Oh and I once started knitting but I was crap @ it so I stopped before I had to wear my own horrid creations. :-)

Assembling will probably be okay, especially with my drill/electric screwdriver. :D

Quitter! ;P

My grandmother inspired me at eight. :-P

And there's no one to teach me. I have to see things before I can do them myself...

Those are the same bookcases we have - there's not really a lot of screwing to do. They're really simple to put together, although they do need a bit of floorspace.

If you're getting more than one of them, don't do what I did and set the one fixed shelf to a different height on each of them. It looks /really/ weird.

Assembling them will be okay, but putting them into place will be something else. (Remember, unlike you, I am in fact shorter than the shelves. :D)

And actually getting them here will be something else again. Bastards. *seethes*

*grins*

Actually, they're taller than me too - I tend to just 'walk' them to where-ever they need to go, rocking them back and forth until they're in the right place.

Although, with only the one fixed shelf in place, they're not that heavy - just awkward.

You should definitely kick them in the head.

Yeah, I was more worried about the awkward than the heavy, though it's gopod to know that if they fall over on me, I'll be able to get out from under them.

I am so going to have a good bitch at them on Monday. This is just not on. I was ready to cut them some slack, what with the works going on down the road and the game being on at Tynecastle, but ... no. And I can't do any clearing out until the shelves are here because I need the boxes the books are in!

If they fell on top of you, you could easily just kick your way through the back - it's really thin.

Now, if they fall over when they're full of books you're probably done for. But at least you'll have plenty to read while you die. ;o)

Oh, yeah. I guess I never did mention that I totally started the knitting thing because of you. Your posting about all your nifty projects inspired me! I want nifty things, too!

Ha! That's right, I am the knitting equivalent of a crack dealer. The first scarf is always free ...

Aaaargh! I did not need more bugs, I can't put the knitting needles down. I'm even dreaming about knitting. Oy.

Well, it is fun. :) It's going great. Mum didn't have as much yarn as I thought, but I did get a ball to practice with. I've knitted the same one like seven times. And I made a plushie scarf yersterday. Hee. I'm ready for the real thing now, just need to get myself to a yarn shop. Whee!

Yay, go you! What are you planning on knitting for your first "real" project?

I was thinking a scarf, I need it and it's pretty easy, but the shawl pattern you posted looks tempting too. :) I want darker yarn for a scarf but not so dark if I'll make the shawl. I think I'll let the yarn decide, see what I find.
