What I'm doing instead of writing: Reading Chick tracks.

This one's kind of rubbing me the wrong way, because taking back an abusive man unless he's actually gone through therapy? Bad idea, no matter how saved he claims to be.

This one, on the other hand, is just plain hilarious. Yo, Jack, easy on the metaphors, man.

COMMUNISM = TEH DEVl!!11111!!!1!

And WTF is with the fundamentalists in the States (I don't recall ever seeing this anywhere else) and their hatred against the Catholic Church? Not that I don't sympathise, but oi.

Edit: Rock and Roll will SEND YOU TO HELL!!!

Right, so I'm 1) not baptised, 2) gay, 3) semi-communist, and 4) a fan of rock 'n roll. So I might as well be a pervy child fancier, because I'm already on the way to hell at quadruple speed.

Re:

See, living in a country where Catholicism is the predominant religion, this is all just weird to me.

(Catholics do, however, assume that unbaptised babies will be buried in the garden by their parents, "like dogs". Or at least the pastor of the twon where I was born assumed so, and told my mother as much when he came to harass her over the fact that I wasn't baptised.)

Unfortunately, unbaptized children do go to hell, I believe. Shame.

Woohoo! Since that means I'm already hellbound no matter what I do, I think I'll engage in some sin and debauchery.

*does*

Well, that may only be the Fundamentalist Catholic view. I can't recall the stance on such things as taught to me in Cathechism, only from the Charismatic prayer meeting discussions.

That was the best thing about the Charismatics. Being told to convert Protestants to Catholicism. "Convert Christians to Christianity!!!!"

Of course, now I firmly believe all four major patriarchial monotheistic religions are basically branches of the same damn thing.

Re:

Yeah, that's what I just added to the entry. :D I mean, bewteen not being baptised, loving rock music, being a commie, and being gay, I'm already hellbound anyway, do I might as well enjoy the child perving while I can.

If you're not baptised you're not recognised by God, and you go to Hell. 'Course, easy for me to say, being baptised and well on the fast route to downstairs anyway.

On a more random note, likely to be online later? I have an offer for you. ::waggles eyebrows:: Possibly less exciting than it sounds, which is saying something.

Re:

See, I actually now want to be baptised, but I've yet to find an organised religion that doesn't grate me the wrong way.

Offer? Oooh! I shall be on in about ... An hour and a half, possibly two hours, if that's all right?

From: [identity profile] usual.livejournal.com

Oh, no. We don't grate the babies before we eat them...

::blinks:: OK, time is passing way too fast today. I'm losing whole hours.

Anyway, yeah. I'll be around all evening, I suspect.

Hey, I was raised (liberal) Protestant, in the U.S., and it was weird to me, too. The first time I got asked the baby-eating question, it was very difficult not to just blurt out, "you're kidding me, right?"

Re:

Well, the extremist prejudice is really, really weird, but the whole concept of Catholicism being viewed as TEH DEVL is odd as well. Muh?

It's really weird for me too. I live in the U.S., but in a very Catholic area, and I just don;t understand it. Then again, as one of the very few agnostics/athiests in my school, I tended to have a "me vs. them" view, so perhaps that;s why I don't understand.

One of the craziest things though was when my mother, who was raised Catholic, said that my aunt's family were "Catholics, not Christians." I just sorta blinked because I'd never been to a church in my life, and I knew that Catholics were Christians, but apparently she didn't. *shakes head* Craziness.

I though unbaptized babies went to Limbo? Or is Limbo in hell? I just read this last week, dammit.....

From: [identity profile] redfiona99.livejournal.com

I was taught limbo as well. And as far as Dante goes, limbo is nice, just not as nice as heaven (working on the prinicple that it's not the fault of the babies that died at birth that they weren't baptised)

Christened - Protestant, nursery run by Catholic Nuns, and non-aligned Christian, with the occasional islamic leaning ever since.
