What I'm doing instead of writing: Reading Chick tracks.

This one's kind of rubbing me the wrong way, because taking back an abusive man unless he's actually gone through therapy? Bad idea, no matter how saved he claims to be.

This one, on the other hand, is just plain hilarious. Yo, Jack, easy on the metaphors, man.

And WTF is with the fundamentalists in the States (I don't recall ever seeing this anywhere else) and their hatred against the Catholic Church? Not that I don't sympathise, but oi.

Right, so I'm 1) not baptised, 2) gay, 3) semi-communist, and 4) a fan of rock 'n roll. So I might as well be a pervy child fancier, because I'm already on the way to hell at quadruple speed.

Catholicism isn't real Christianity, you know.

(1) Most of the original settlers were Protestants, not Catholics. Therefore, most of the Catholics were immigrants. In fact, there was a whole political party (http://dmoz.org/Society/History/By_Region/North_America/United_States/Political_Parties/Know-Nothings/) bsed on being anti-immigrant as well as anti-Catholic in the nineteenth century.

(2) In fact, a question raised about JFK was if his loyalty to the Pope would prevent him from being a good president.

(3) Most Protestants have a really fucked up view of what Catholicism is. They tend to be taught that we [a] will never go against something the Pope says, [b] worship the saints like gods, [c] worship Mary as a goddess.

Much on this same subject is a really odd thing I've noticed which is that I was always taught that Protestants believe that it's belief in Jesus not good works that gets one into heaven, whilst Catholics believe it's good works and belief. My Presbyterian friend was taught the other way. This amuses me to no end.



Basically, it seems to be a "it's foreign to us, so it's wrong" thing.

Which, oddly enough, seems to be what Mr Chick says, too. Hrm. Am confused. Now you know why I haven't joined an organised religion yet ...
