It's not that Dan and Rupert are entwined, it's that Emma is leaning away from Dan. Although it looks like Rupert's hand is on Dan's shoulder and Emma's hand is on his. So maybe they'd all be happier if Rupert were in the middle, but he can't be because "Harry" has to be in the middle.
