So I went to bed with a slight headache last night at about half past eleven, and was awoken at around five by a blinding migraine headache. And when I say "blinding", I mean that pretty literally. By nine, I could barely see out of my left eye anymore, and I was nauseous from the pain to the point of nearly vomiting. I vaguely remember sitting at my computer after taking the max dose of painkillers, waiting for them to kick in, calling work and leaving a rather disjointed message on the answer machine, apparently even commenting in people's LJs (huh?), then stumbling back to bed and blacking out until about five PM, when the pain and everything was just ... gone.

I'm hoping like hell this isn't actual migraine, that it was a fluke, that I can avoid future attacks by avoiding certain types of food, anything that doesn't mean I've inherited my mother's migraine, because those didn't go away until my youngest brother was born.

Maybe it's hormonal. Which of course just adds to the fun, since my cycle is about as reliable as British public transport, ie not very.

I hate my body.

It's an Irish folk song, about the IRA, I think back during the Easter Revolution of 1916. I've been on an Irish folk kick for the past few days.

And, thanks. At this point, I'm hoping that if it is actual migraine, it's triggered by food and not, as I fear, by hormones. At least I can avoid food-triggers. Sigh.
