They didn't exactly part on friendly terms, back then. They'd just broken up, again, and he thought at the time, This is it. They waved goodbye half-heartedly, not even a hug, and that, he thought, was it.Time passed, and he heard things, of course, because even after five years they're still celebrities, legends even. So he knows about Jason's racing, and when he hears about the crash his heart just stops.
He's packing before he even knows what he's doing, but it seems like a year before he's actually at the hospital, opening the door to Jason's room.
