Happened upon this in my walkabout through other people's memorified posts, and, for some reason, really like it. Wow. It's. The Italy thing. I think.

I need to write some stories set in my favourite places.

Re:

Hm, what kind of pairings do you usually like? Best friends? Antagonists? I'm usually mostly all about the antagonist pairings, I have to warn you. Lessee, from my limited recc files:

Shalott's stuff, which I recced today. All very good. The series that starts with A Rare Descent and ends (for now?) with The Seasonless World is gen, for now, and a WiP, I believe, but very good.

Mireille's fic, which I must amend with a disclaimer that I pretty much think Mir hung the moon when it comes to Marcus Flint, so take that as you will. Start with A Friendly Game of Blackmail, then read The Last Time, and then go to town. :)

And then there's Kym, whose Oh, Captain you really ought to read, but be warned it's a WiP (the cometion of which I await with bated breath.)

Do you have a URL for the authors you mentioned? I'll check 'em out.

And in general, I like (non-sappy) Harry/Draco, Wood/Flint, Flint/Higgs, and the occasional smattering of Ron/Draco. You'll be unlikely to find any W/F or F/H that I've not read yet, though. Woefully rare, those. Sigh.

Hi again. Thanks for the links! Now that I'm home from work I can post some too.

Rabbit's fic (http://www.sugarquill.net/authors/rabbit.html) at Sugarquill.net has the only two stories I've read by her. They are both in progress. My favorite of the two - Yet Another Snape Meets the Dursleys Story is sorta dark. Harry is locked up and it borders on abuse how they are treating him - even it wasn't completely intentional by the Dursleys. If you like dark or character driven fic - or Snape this is interesting. Her other story - Balance is an unusual story about Hogwarts, how things get completely out of control during a fight against the dark side and to set things right Harry and Draco end up working together. It too is not finished.

Sugar Quill (http://www.sugarquill.net/AtE/AtEToC.html) is another writer I rec'd to you earlier. The story - After the End is not slash but has a Remus/Sirius thing going on that - to me really seems as if they are a couple. It's 26 epic chapters and not done. It's primarily H/G and R/H and yes, it's sappy and romantic. But, it's got depth and dark stuff going on too. Draco is in it, as are all the Weasleys.

[livejournal.com profile] amuse139 has a site that isn't updated anymore except for OliverPercy Improves - but I know her work from other fandoms and I think her writing is excellent. She stopped working on her Oliver stories and site - In a Dark Wood (http://alloliver.tripod.com/oliverwood.htm) because she discovered the Puppies and is now busily writing JoLa and TimberTrick and Choey fic.

As for type of stories - I often like best friends stuff. But sometimes it's the antagonists that have to work together that are best. Conflict and angst is always good in my bopl. Romance is ok - but I don't actively look for it the way I do a good, involved character piece that shows conflicted morals and ideals and has growth in the end. Not to much to ask now is it?! I also like dark stories where in a characters save one another - but no one is really all the happy - just better off now that they are together. Doesn't have to be a romantic pairing but can often be enemies forced into unusual circuimstances.

Sorry, I don't have really have much slash to rec. But I'll keep you posted on things I do find that are interesting if you find you like the three fics I rec'd. Thanks again! I'm off to read your recs.

Hi again. Just wanted so thank you again for the links. I just finished reading all of Shalott's HP fic and they were amazing! Of course The Seasonless World ends with something of a cliffhanger but it was definitely worth the read - thanks for pointing me that way.

I hope you continue to post links in your LJ because these are definitely stories I wouldn't have found on my own!

Hee! You're very welcome. I'll be reading those reccs of yours somewhere next week, BTW. I only really read slash at work. (Yes, I'm a freak. La!)
