To Do List for the next ...

... year:

• Walk the Death March;
• Go to Paris -- I miss that city so bloody much;
• Brush up on my French.

... decade:

• Live and work in NYC for a year or four, five;
• Get a book published;
• Run the Death March;
• Go to Africa, retrace, to the best of my abilities, my uncle's steps of ten, fifteen years ago. (Well, except for the whole five weeks in jail thing. Not my scene, that.)

... lifetime:

• Climb Mount Everest with Fleur;
• Cross the North or South Pole, preferably with my dad;
• Swim in the highest lake in the world;
• Become Crazy Aunt Melle to any kids my brothers might acquire. </ul

Also: this is a frigging kickass list. *grin* Even if you only get, say, half of the stuff, your nieces/nephews will view you as a god.

I don't know the details, but he was, IIRC, travelling through a rather dangerous and turmoiled area, and the cops basically arrested him because he was white.
