Some pictures from this morning's game, from Rueters:

Heee. That's the spirit, boys.

I'd like to note two things. One: I love that they're all a little pudgy. Love that. Two: I'm oddly enthralled with the image of the flag. I think I'll make that into my default football icon. Well, flipped, of course, cause the Belgian flag is black-yellow-red. (Random anecdote;: in the constitution, it actually says red-yellow-black, but it's always been displayed the other way round. We're a strange country, us.)

Is that a hand on someone's ass, on the left?

Yeah, that's the thing! Hug and cuddle and be slashy, then we'll win this thing! (I'm not entirely jkoking, either.

Belgium's team coach Robert Waseige (C) is congratulated by team mates as he celebrates after the Group H match against Russia at the World Cup Finals in Shizuoka, June 14, 2002. Belgium beat Russia 3-2 and will play Brazil in Kobe in the next round. Japan's qualification means that, for the first time at a World Cup, all five of FIFA's participating continental confederations - Europe, South America, North and Central America, Africa and Asia - are represented in the last 16. See? Your coach has the right idea. (I'msogoingtogotohell!)

This one's just here cause it's an "awww" picture. :)

More Belgian slashiness! Yay us!

Meeeehhhh!!!

I want people in my country to follow soccer! Hell, do we even compete in the world cup?

And, pardon my ignorance, but the only way to cure it is to ask. Isn't that Germany's flag? Or is theirs just the same colors but turned a different way? (Pfft, and I call myself part German. Cause I am but...yeah.)

Re:

The States even got through to the second round, surprisingly. :) They're playing against ... *checks BBC site* Mexico on Monday, 7:30 BST, which is 2:30 AM EST. Details here.

And Germany's the same but horizontal. ^_^

Hrm. I wasn't even sure that we had a team. I really wish my country had more coverage and such of this. I mean, when the World Series or the Superbowl goes on, everyone knows it. Especially when I was living on Long Island and there was the Subway Series.

I want people to be interested in the pretty soccer players! ::Wails::

Re:

Unless I'm mistaken, you guys will be hosting the next World Cup, actually. So hopefully, that'll spur some interest. :)
