Warning: am about to embark upon (European) football-talk. Basketball fans and people who aren't into sports, please avert eyes.

So I saw the England-Argentina game. Missed the first fourty minutes or so, but I saw Beckham's goal, and the second half. 1-0 for England, but I can't say I'm thrilled. Argentina was in posession nearly the whole time, and Becks scored the goal on a penalty. The entire second half, England just stayed in the back of the field. And then they took off Michael Owen, who was the only one who'd actually made some valiant attempts to score.

Bah. I hope next week's game's better, because I'm sorely disappointed in them

England were the better team

What the hell?
England were so the better team, Argentina couldn't even get the ball past. And did you see the second half 17 pass Sheringham volley. OK, so Argentina pulled out everything in the last 20 or so minutes in a desperate attempt to get something from the game but England had the chance to get at least 2 more goals in the start or the second half. And then of course there was that Owen chance in the first half.
Agree with you about Owen, though. And if we win the next match we win our group. Go England!

*shrug* LIke I said, I wasn't impressed. It was a really boring game. Argentina may not have scored, but England couldn't hang onto the ball for more than five minutes in the second half. Sure, they won, and they deserved to win, but the game was really boring.
