Okay, anyone care to fill me in on what happened on Buffy? Yes, I know I stopped watching after Hush, but there's a big broohaha and apparently the Spike apologists are expected to come out full-force, and I want to know.

*pines for her lovely little pairng-fandom shot to hell by the apologists*

I hadn't read it in a while--author issues, you know. I don't really have any other recs. I don't remember anything else that was specifically good.

Hm, damn. And yeah, I know what ou mean.

Dammit, I know I found a site once with all the best Spike/Xander stories linked. (And by best I mean not necessarily all gripping and "great", but gramatically correct and good characterisation.) I'll see if I can find it again.

Okay, here's what I can drag up in terms of people who write Buffy fic, whose work I've bookmarked, and who are neither Te nor The Spike: Kay, Meagan, and Perri who, as far as I know, doesn't write slash but writes good gen/het X-Men fic and so presumably also writes good gen/het Buffy fic.

Can you tell I should be studying? Bah!

Thanks. Hey, I remember Kay from LitD! She wrote that Ardeth/Jonathan story I liked! And she's done a sequel! Squee!

Re:

I have. And it is. Mrrr. I rather like the one where Xander's having nightmare flashbacks about Angelus raping him, too. I'm not sure I like this weakish!Xander, but it plays to my doting!Spike button, so I like it. I also think it's more a pacing issue than a charactersation issue. If there'd been more in-depth exposition about the rape and its effects, it would've been better.

I'd forgotten about that one. I see what you mean--she just wanted to write the interesting parts, so it comes off as a little too easy. She needs a bit more buildup to make it a complete story.

Re:

*nod* It's not as jarring as it could be, because she's good with what she does write. But it's niggling.
