So I'm plotting out my HP Wannabe-Epic of DOOOOOOM, and in my initial notes for it, which are about a year old now, there's a bit of IRC madness between myself and [livejournal.com profile] natlet, plotting this. And at one point, I said:

Then ... I think I'll have Ron running around without a head (figuratively -- I always feel the need to specify that in this fandom. <g>) [...]

*snork* I'm such a smartass. Anyway.

So the premise of the whole thing is that Harry and Draco end up playing on the same Quidditch team, representing Hogwarts in an interschool Quidditch tournament. (Just. Don't ask. Long story.) I'm trying to figure out who would be on the team.

Seeker: Harry.

Beaters: Not the twins, if only because then there'd be three Gryffindors on the team, and I think Mme Hooch (*moment of awed, lust-filled silence*) would try and keep things somewhat evenly distributed. One of them will be Draco. Who ought to be the other one?

Chasers: ?

Keeper: ?

And why do I have the feeling I'm missing a player, here?

I don't think you're missing any players, that seems to be everyone.

And, was Draco a Beater on the Slytherin team? I seem to remeber him being something else,(I thought he was Seeker...) but I could be wrong...

Re:

No, he's a seeker on the Quidditch team, but the whole idea of the plot is that he's a bludger on the Hogwarts team. What with having to protect Harry and all. (Muahahaha!)

Hrm? I thought they were called Beaters and they hit the Bludgers. Is my memory really that shot? Huh. It might be.

Ah yes. Protecting him. It all makes sense now.

Ah, so its not my crappy memory. Huh.

Odd, I can remember random facts from books, but when it comes to math, pfft. I'm pathetic at remembering then. So I proclaim me denser than thou. :)

I dunno, Ron as the other beater would be pretty damned funny. ^.^ But that's just me...

Ack! Bitch! Now I have to choose between Backseat Quidditch Player Ron and Must Not Chuck Bludger At Malfoy Ron!

Grrrr. :p

*cackles maniacally* You cannot say it's not an amusing idea. ^___^

From: [identity profile] sivan.livejournal.com

Mmmph! Ron as a Beater, oh please? All the possible Draco/Ron interaction, because Ron wouldn't trust Draco and vice versa but they'd have to work together while constantly trying to find ways to annoy each other without actually impairing their abilities to protect Harry. And you just know they'd annoy the hell out of each other in a way that even Harry never could annoy Draco. It'd be terribly amusing.
... of course, I'm getting Draco/Ron vibes from that now. ^^;; Err ... don't mind me, I'll be over there entertaining myself with all the possibilities. (Mmm, love triangles.) *.*

See, that was part of my problem with the Ron as a Beater thing. Then you're probably not going to be able to avoid the Draco/Ron vibes, and I didn't think that was what you wanted.

Re:

Um, yeah. I mena, I like Ron/Harry/Draco as a concept, but that wasn't the point of the story.

I'll go roam through the books to look for characters. Or something. :/

Well, you probably want the other Beater to be someone Harry's already close to. Otherwise Ron would make all three of them hang out together, and then it would be hard to get the Harry/Draco stuff going on. Maybe one of the twins. Or someone else Harry knows in Gryffindor, or Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff.

Re:

Ooorrr ... Ron? I'm having images of him shaking his club at Draco behind D's back, and stuff.

Hmm. But then when Ron tells Harry and Draco they need to spend time together, wouldn't Harry say that Ron and Draco need to spend time together to learn to work together?

Re:

But Ron can keep his urges under control enough to do his job (ie protect Harry). Or so he says, glaring at Draco's back and swinging his club.)

But couldn't Harry argue that they need to learn to work together so that Draco won't do anything evil to Ron?

Re:

Hm, true. Of course, I could actually have Ron and Draco try and work together too, have Ron smack Draco around a bit, and as time goes on, Ron notices that Draco's actually doing a good job protecting Harry, and there's less need to hang out with Draco and he leaves Draco and Harry alone again.

Or. Something?

Hmm. Unless he's really suspicious and thinks Draco's just doing that to get rid of him before he does something awful to Harry.

Beater!Ron makes me think he can't get a date and spends a lot of time masturbating.
