Americans who can't hear anything negative about America are like partners afraid to go to couple's counselling. Being in any sort of committed relationship *requires* that one be open to working on stuff. I think citizenship is just as signficant a relationship as the one I have with my fuck-buddy.
Keep on speaking your mind. I'll be listening.

And in general, I can handle the shittyness, it's just when it comes from someone I like, someone I thought better of, someone I thought knew me better than to think I'd be so prejudiced towards Americans, that's when it hurts, and now especially I'm not up for that kind of hurt. :/
But, thank you. I have a lot of opinions, and I'll continue to speak my mind, but I hope people can keep in mind that I may disagree (a lot, in some cases) with US laws and policies, but that doesn't mean I hate all Americans. Hell, I'm planning to emigrate there in a few years, for god's sake. :)
Melle, I understand how you'd feel that your words would be twisted. They probably would be. But I want to say it's very sad. I know you'd feel threatened and that's a perfectly good reason not to voice yourself so soon. But please know that many of us American not the majority certainly do not agree with many of US foriegn policies and understand little bit not totally where Europeans are coming from. I know I haven't been proud of being American since I started paying attention to foriegn policy. But just because you aren't American doesn't mean that all Americans' will reject your opinions merely based on the fact that you aren't American. Please know that some of us are trying to understand other nation's opinions.
