Six years after my biggest Meat Loaf phase, I still know all the lyrics to Paradise By the Dashboard Light. By heart. And yet, I keep forgetting family members' birthdays.

certain songs (American Pie for me too) just have a way of embedding themselves into your memory; whereas dates don't ... I think it's a different part of the brain or something...
