Two: When these songs were topping the charts and these events occurred your age was:

Who Can it be Now, Men at Work: 1
The recording of We Are The World: 4 (Which would explain why it's embedded in my subconcious so deeply I can never ever erase it.)
Walk Like an Egyptian, Bangles: 6
Didn't We Almost have it all, Whitney Houston: 6
Back In The U.S.S.R. is released exclusively in Russia: 8
Nothing Compares 2 U, Sinead O'Connor: 9 (Wow. Again, I remember being older when this came out. I clearly remember that summer.)
Emotions, Mariah Carey: 10

The Sign, Ace Of Base: 13 (Whoboy. I plead the fifth.)
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum opens: 14

9 years old when Seinfeld was first televised

Saving Private Ryan: 17
Toy Story 2: 18

I'm feeling kind of old right now ...

O.J. Simpson - yeah, I seem to remember being over 13, and I'm younger than you. Does that refer to the original conviction or the endless trial, though? Or would there be no difference? (*really needs to acquire greater understanding of US Law*)

Re:

I'm not sure. I seem to remember watching Jay Leno at the time of what i think wsa the orginal trial, and he wasn't on air here until 1996 at least. o_O

not as old

as I'm about to feel when I do this thing.... :>

it's cool tho, which is why we do these things, right?

Re: not as old

Can I just say it's really weird to talk about slash with someone older than my mother?

(That didn't really help, did it? Oops.)

From: [identity profile] icanreadyourmnd.livejournal.com

NO - that didn't help

you can punch me now (I just heard Alan Rickman say, in my head, as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves when answering his cousin about why he wanted to tear out Robin Hood's heart wth a spoon: "Because it will HURT more" :>)

I'm a LOT younger than my age, trust me. And I don't act it at all (except when working but that's different). Nor do I look it which is an attribute that runs in the female side of my family - we all look at least 10 years younger than we are.

Besides which, I've gotten past the age thing a while ago cause I realized a lot of people in slash were a lot younger than me (although there are those who've been slashing longer and are older - like those in the Trek fandom).

Re: NO - that didn't help

Eeek? :D (Mmm, PoT, now there was prime slash foddre if ever I saw any.)

I've never reall looked my age. I've looked sixteen from age twelve through nineteen. Then I started looking nineteen, and since getting the crew-cut, I look about twenty-five.

Heh.

RH PoT

slash? like between The Sheriff and his cousin? Ya know - now that you mention it.... (I LUV that movie!) I can see that very very well; it would be very dark... (hmmmm).

No - no! Not in the middle of two A-Team Stories and the plotting of their future! Then again, who knows (not I!) where that S&H story came from. I jsut woke up with it out of the blue and it woulnd't let me get back to the Team until I wrote it.

I think someone else said it on my friends page today (ciegae) that age is a state of mind and I agree with that and have said that numerous times myself. It's not the age itself but the experiences and how they're used in context. Some people older than me just won't grow up and use their heads in a logical manner and some people younger than me are on the same footing as I (or older sometimes). I mean, look at [livejournal.com profile] natlet and [livejournal.com profile] thehunter. They're teens!!!!! But I feel like I'm talking to myself sometimes when I'm talking to [livejournal.com profile] thehunter

So therefore age is relative...
(and if the Sheriff of Nottingham says "Cousin, Cousin" in my head one more time I'm not sure what I'm gonna do!). (slash them prob'ly)(deep evil slashing with eye of newt involved). :>

Re: RH PoT

I would love you forever if you slashed PoT. The sherrif and his cousin, and/or Robin and Will. (Oh, hush, I have the hughest girlcrush on Christian Slater.)

From: [identity profile] icanreadyourmnd.livejournal.com

Re: RH PoT

how about the sheriff and his cousin AND Robin and his half-brother Will? The good versus the bad in slash.....

Oh man - I'm still at work trying to go a dry borng option agreement and slash thoughts are flitting through my head and I'm gonna go home and watch that movie tonight (which I've seen like a hundred times anyway).

I'm not sure I'll be able to do Robin and Will but never say never and I'm not making promises, ok?

But there may be some Sherrif and cousin stuff in the future....

(I'll just leave Jes and Face on the table -- ha ha, table them? -- in the kitchen for a while. I'm sure neither of them will mind in the least)
