In other news, could someone do a reality check for me? The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that the terms RPS and FPS originated on RS-X. (And wow, can I cram any more acronyms into one sentence?) Because I can't remember it being called anything but "actorslash" (and musicianslash, I suppose, but that never came up in the rants I read) before that, and I definitely remember when the F in FPS stood for "fake" and I made noises and asked to use "FictionalPS" and um. itkindaworked.
So, help? Reality check? Was I a part of a revolution?
(Edit: Going through the RS-X message archive, and I'm starting to get convinced that yes, we did indeed give birth to the terms RPS and FPS. For example, there's a post by Vali on the legalities of RPS, except she calls it "realslash".
Ho hum.)

But you definitely were a huge part of the revolution. Hey, and I can say 'I was there'. :D

And heee. Dude, swelled head, here. (Doing a proper journal entry on how much the "image" of RPS has changed over the years. Interesting, to see the many huge changes that came about during my fannish life time. :)

"I remember, once upon a time, people hated slash about actual people and hardly anyone ever wrote it. But that was loooooong ago. Then Melle came along, named it RPS, defended it viciously and now we're about to take over the world." *giggles*

And sigh, I seem to have lost my drive for vicious defense. (Partially what the entry will be about.) Had some really really bad experiences with my words being twisted, and now I feel like I've got a bit of a "local" depression. I just can't seem to muster the motivation to argue with people, because it's just the same damn arguments over and over again.
Sigh. :/

And some people would never listen to arguments, anyway, because the hear only what they want to hear and will twist your words even before they leave your mouth. :(

(Cause, yeah, the Te thing ... that stung. It's not fun to see someone you've always admired suddenly get all frothing at the mouth about something you do (in casu, put RPS on a webspace), and dismiss something you love (in casu, boybandslash) as not worthy (or at elast not as worthy as her own Hugh Dillon/CKR slash, one supposes) and accuse you and yours (those of us who have RPS on our sites) of endangering all slashers.
(Which is ridiculous for a umber of reasons, but I'll get into that in the revised version of the FMO, if I ever manage to write that.)
I think that was partially what made me feel like this, the knowledge that no matter how far we come, no matter how hard I fight, there will always be people refusing to change their minds, adhering to lies and untruths and an outdated worldview.)
Will stop babbling now.

I remember
So, yeah, we're the children of the revolution. Or something :).

I feel like I should grab a rifle (or a pen, in this case) and should slogans or something. (Which, um, I already do, I guess.)
