I'm still reading through the stories, so no actual recs yet, but here's the LotR RPS archive, if you want.

Argh, my eyes! *whimper* Frames and a black background. But thanks. I'll let you know if I find anything especially worth reading.

"Tennessee" made me cry, but I'm PMSing in a weepy way, so that may not mean anything.

I realized that I know nothing about any of the actors, so I have no idea if anything's in character or not.

Well, personally, I'm happy if a)the characters aren't "roleplaying" (if I want FPS I'll read FPS!), b) the characters aren't overly romance novel-esque and c) the author doesn't suffer from comma-phobia, so. :)

Those sort of criteria make me worry about the quality of the fandom as a whole.

Re:

Erm, yes. :/ What I've read seems to be mostle PWPs, most of them have stupid non-canon nicknames ("orli" is, "Lij" isn't, dammit; if they're gonna shorten Elija's name, it'd be "Eli" or "El" rather than "Lij"), and bad grammar. I hit the back button after one sentence of a story because it lacked a comma in a vital place.

Still, there's some good stuff. Cimorene is worth checking out, I think.

I will. And yeah, sorry, 'd have warned about that, but I don't always register the white-letters-on-black-bg thing. Fo some reason i find it easier to read, ou see, and I sometimes forget most people don't. :)

"Tennessee" is by Cimorene. I haven't read the other one she wrote.

I know it's canon, but Orli? What the hell kind of name is that? And Lij is a weird nickname. Although, hmm, maybe he doesn't want to be called Elijah because Elijah was a prophet and he doesn't feel worthy of the name. Don't you like the way I bunny even those things I have no interest in?

Well, what the hell kind of name is Orlando? :D But yes, Lij is a weird nickname. I can't really figure out how to pronounce it, either.

Drop the bunny slowly walk away! :p

Well, okay, Orlando is weird too, but at least it sounds more like a name than Orli. I mean, Orlando is a place whereas Orli is just a random pairing of sounds. Where on Earth did it come from? I think Lij is pronounced just like Elijah, but without the first and last syllables.

*drops the bunny* *backs away slowly* Perhaps someone else can pick it up and do something with it. Or if I come up with another character with a biblical name, I might come back and retrieve the bunny and apply it to that person.

Re:

AFAIK, Orli is his actual nickname. I have no idea where it came from, though.

I think it's just shortening his name and attaching an i, which is how many nicknames come to be, isn't it? My name keeps getting shortened from Constanze to Conni/Conny, too. *shrug*

I almost find it easier to call him Orli, really. Orlando is silly. He's not even American ...

And I think that 'Lij' is pronounced 'Lige', the way it is in 'Elijah' ... which would make a certain amount of sense. Maybe he doesn't like 'Eli' for whatever reason and 'Lij' would be one of the more obvious choices.

It's growing on me. The more I think it, the more I like it. And when I say think it, I mean I see in my head the way it looks typed out in a .txt file. Not that I'm weird or anything.

According to the IMDb, "Lij" is canon. Considering that that, too, is growing on me, I think I can live with it.
