Indeed it is! Wow, I'm just ... speechless. That's so incredibly neat.
And I wasn't going to think Aragorn/Boromir thoughts, really, I wasn't, I was going to be perfectly happy with a manly friendship and no happy snuggly cuteness and now this! *sob*
I knoooow! And that's another beef I have with parts of the L/A contingent, the way they seem to ignore Arwen. Um, hello? Love of a lifetime? Been together since forever? She's giving up eternity for him?
Which is why I can't really see Legolas/Aragorn, I guess, while I can see A/B. Because with them, it's more a "brothers in arms" thing. Or something.
I have a beef with people who don't respect Arwen and Aragorn's relationship. But in my cattier moments I wonder if they're just not adept enough writers to write around her.
Yeah. There's that comrades-in-arms thing that always strikes me as slashy between Aragorn and Boromir.
And, oddly enough, I think another part of the reason they work is that Boromir dies. It's actually a very symbolic ending for them. And tragic. I like tragic love.
Oooh, good one. yeah, I definitely think the death thing is part of it, too. Perhaps that's why people like L/A so much, the whole erternal life thing.
That might be it, but Aragorn dies too, surely? I know he's long-lived 'cause he's got elf blood, but he's mortal, right?
Wow, that might actually make me feel sorry for Legolas.
I think a part of it's also that I tend to not get into the guy everyone swoons over very often. It's like X-Men. Everyone went for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, I fell in love with James Marsden as Scott.
Yes, yes, yes! This is why I don't get the whole Legolas/Aragorn explosion. I mean, sure, Legolas is pretty, but. "My brother, my Captain, my King"? I damn near swallowed my tongue!
And the kiss! That last, gasping "give me something to remember you by before I pass on into the next life" honest-to-goodness, lingering kiss that Aragorn planted on Boromir's forehead (while slipping himself between Boromir's legs) just before Boromir died with a smile on his face.
But "Legolas is sooooo hot!" (Yes, I'm slightly bitter here. Two of my favourite pairings (Legolas/Gimli and Aragorn/Boromir) hardly get written because people prefer to slash the pretty boys. Snarl.)
Excuse me, I'm going to infulge myself in some daydreams and impatient waiting for the next movie -- Faramir! =D
I think he's the only reason I'm not as devastated as I might be by Boromir's death, because I'm also in love with David Wenham, who is to play Faramir. He's about the most perfect brother for Sean B that I can imagine.
