Is there a computer tech in the house?

This thing is driving me nuts. Can someone figure out what I'm doing wrong? I installed my DVD drive, a Pioneer 116, and it's recognised by the puter and all, appears in the hardware profiles, latest drivers and all, but the puter won't recognise any CD I put in it. Help?

*wince* Gah. I'll see if I could possibly open the DVD-drive and take a quick peek inside. I'm a bit hesitant to do so, cause I'm notoriously bad at actual tech stuff.
