If actors get upset when people write fic about their characters that is their own problem for not having enough distance. But nobody should be expected to have distance form themselves even if they are famous.
I never thought I'd see the day, but finally, someone actually said this. I never thought they'd be hypocrite enough to say it out loud. I always knew the whole "someone could get hurt" shit was a bunch of crap, but this proves it. Double fucking standard anyone? If actors get hurt, they should just have more distance, but other celebrities should not have some distance from their public persona?
(Christ. How delusional do you have to be to think any celebrity would a) find this shit and b) really be hurt by it, beyond the initial "WTF?" And goddammit, it isn't my motherfucking job to make the internet hurt-free for anyone. I am not anybody's mommy!)
Also, that's really fucking annoying punctuation there. <petty>

Okay...
And the actor part - haven't FPSers been saying that in one form or another forever? That the actors have no right to be squicked by character slash? Goes back to the Darrow thing, I think.

Re: Okay...
Incidentally, I got the archives of fca-l from the beginning, and I've read only a tiny part of it, most of which is fascinating (one more thing keeping me from my email catching up, though) and someone said that at one point there was an RPHet story written about Darrow and Janice someone or other (I'm presuming she is one of the women from B7, the only one I know is Glynis Barber who went on to do the Brit/US cop show Dempsey & Makepeace) and sent it to him.
You know, I actually have some sympathy for him if he hates fic of all kinds after that. I really don't think it's a good idea to send it to them. Coming across it accidentally is quite different.
