The thing is there seems to be a big difference between the conception of the WWs in America and in Europe. Most Americans seem to see it as v. good vs evil, whereas especially in Belgium, people are more aware of things like the collaboration, which is still a sore point with a whole lot of people.
Of course, then there's the attitude of "We saved your asses and therefore you must be eternally grateful and always agree with what the USA does," which thankfully v. little people seem to have anymore. This really pisses me of in reference to WW1, because the USAians may have "freed" the country, but "us" Belgians kept a small corner of the country free throughout the whole war, and at terrible cost.
So, yeah. I'm a history geek, and the wars are two of my pet periods. ^_^
