You know what my problem with buying clothes is? My lower body is, like a medium to large, but my torso is small when it comes to stretchy fabric, medium when it isn't. (Fucking breasts.) That makes it really hard to figure out what size dress to buy.

And while I'm on the subject, is it me, or are sizes gradually getting smaller? I mean, my old clothes still fit exactly the same as always (with the exception of the uppser torso -- see also: breasts), but whenever I go shop at a normal store, I notice I suddenly went from european sizes 38 (torso) and 40 (lower body) to 40 and 42. WTF? Has the world population's average size gone down or something? Or did the fashion industry decide they wanted to use less fabric? Or no! It's the diet industry, trying to make everyone feel fat!

ç!è()z!"()à!(é'()ç!

And let me also point out that most "large women stores" start at size 42. For fuck's sake, people. I'm hardly "large", okay? I'm medium. Average. Not large, not fat. Nothing wrong with being fat, btw. Just pointing out that, well, I'm not. And when people try to impy I am, it scares me, because that means their idea of "skinny" would be my idea of "holocaust victim."

Yeah! YOu go girl! Seriously, that's something that's been bothering me for years now! I mean, what is this, I can't even buy at Jean Pascal anymore because they decided to have sizes between 34 and 42. And their 42 is a usual 38/40!! I mean, really, I'm 1,80 meters tall, I can't wear a 38 in pants. Just not possible! Aarrrgh! It's like, everytime I go there and try pants it makes me wanna stop eating and throw up everything I ate so far just not to have to know I don't fit in any of their pants!!

It sucks.

Can I just say that I adore you! *_* I so know what you're talking about! Having a larger size for your pants than you do for your tops and then being "stigmatized" as a large person. T_T As if everyone had to be as *pretty* as Kate Moss! grrr...

I really wish I had your self-confidence! I admire it greatly!

Re:

Do not mention K*t* M*ss!

I don't mind skinny people. My mum's real skinny, but you can see that that's natural, that she's just skinny because she's like that, that she's healthy. Ditto for, say, Twiggy, or some of the girls I see in the streets sometimes.

But K*t* M*ss and all these other heroine chick odels are so obviously starving themselves. And these women are role models?

You know what scares me?

I'm slightly smaller than the national (US) average size, which is about a 14/16, and I would still have to lose about 30lbs to match the weight and build of the average female seen on TRL. I'm not even talking about the famous ones, either.

I don't even want to think about how absolutely miserable and unhealthy that would make me.

Oh well, I guess I'll continue my career as a non-famous person. Because who needs fame when you have McDonald's cheeseburgers? :-)

Re:

Yes! (But replace cheeseburger with fishburger. ^_^)

I am 5'4" and weigh 120 lbs.
And I'm a Large at most stores.
*ack*
How embarrassing.

It's hard to find clothes in my size, too...and my size (8, I don't know what it would be over there) is normal for a *healthy* woman!! Seems like everything cool is only in 6 or smaller. =(
