So the situation is this. Two brothers, David and Nick. David's about seven or eight years older than Nick. For reasons I have yet to discern, when David enters puberty, around age 12-13, so when Nick's 4-5, he becomes rather violent towards his brother. This violence seems to be rather homophoc and racist. ("Pansy, fairy, faggot," etc. when Nick's less than a 'real man') and the culmination of all this violence comes when he beats up Nick pretty badly (to the point of putting him into a coma for a few days) because Nick brought a non-white friend home. He basically leaves Nick bleeding in his room and runs away, supposedly joining the army. (He's 18 at this point, and Nicky's 10. Ish.)
What I need to know is:
- Why is David doing this? (I'm thinking it has something to do with the dead/leaving of their father around David's 10th birthday, but I'm not sure.)
- What would the results of this on Nick's emotional state be? (Keeping in mind there is no sexual abuse at all.)
- What are possible physical results of the beating Nick took? (Epilepsy, whatever?)
I'm psycho-analysing my characters. There is something decidely wrong with that, yo.
