That's an actual Chick track. I find them to be even more amusing than the parodies, because he's actually serious about it. the mere concept is gigglefit-inducing.
Even when I was a fundamentalist Christian, I took Chick tracts with a grain of salt. :) Especially when it has anything to do with the "End Times"...*rolling eyes*
You just have to wonder at the guy. I mean, did he really think "Hm. What would be the best way to convince people that my truth is the One Truth? I know. I'll make it into comics." Ahahahaha!
Actually, sort of, he did. And as much as we on the outside laugh at him...his tracts actually *do* produce surprising results for people who want to hear that message.
Umm...no, actually, I meant people who are at that moment non-Christians, but need the sort of structured forgiveness message that Christianity tends to give, and it happens to reach them at the time in which they're ready to hear it. You'd be surprised at the number of converts Jack can actually be credited with.
I've seen it, the one with the pagan couple who put up Solstice decorations at Christmas time? Including the great big penis for the Horned God? And who are having Great Rites in front of the kids in the backyard, with the son pounding the ritual drum? *giggle*
Oh, no, this one is a different one - though I'd like to see that one! This one is a Pagan couple who explain to a couple of Mormons who visit them all about why they aren't children of Jehovan... it's cool. Wonder if they were both put out by the same people?
An organized religion, with a list of rules and a fairly clear-cut "This is good, this is bad" and how to fix it when you've already messed up. Of course, a huge number of people who "accept Christ" in this particular culture already were Christians by belief, and rebellious by nature. It's just a matter of deciding to "be good" from then on. It's hard not to grow up a Christian, at least in basic cultural outlook, in this country.
Hm. I sort of see what you mean. Although, I probably am one of these people, so. :/ But I prefer to live by my own interpretation of the bible, not someone else's.
I didn't say there was anything *wrong* with it. Some of my best friends are Christians. It's just that most people who aren't of an extremely conservative version never really know how many people are actually reached (and not just amused or infuriated) by Chick tracts.
