Tomporrow, there's some Council thingie happening over here. It's happening sort of down the street from where I work. They're pretty much closing own the area. We will have to have proof of ID and proof that we actually work here, or we won't get in.
Um.
(Also, some German newspaper apparently found out there's plans for a new attack (wave of attacks?) starting right. here. in Belgium. Thankfully, not too close to here, but Everen, where the NATO HQ is. Still, though.)

oh, Mellie
I remember way back when my company used to be based at 1 Dag Hammarskjold Plaza on 47th and 2nd avenue in NYC. We were right over by the United Nations and had some United Stations offices in our own buildng and round about. There were lots of bomb threats (this is going back over 15 years so I'm sketchy over the reason), and picketing and the like and in order to get in our building, we had to have ID to prove we worked there. It was pretty terrifying.
Of course, our new building (in Times Square) is like that all the time now. You have to have ID, you have to have an electronic ID to get you through the electronic turnstiles to be able to get to the elevators. If you lose or forget your pass, the guards won't let you in (even if they know you from seeing you every day!) unless they call someone you ask for and they say its okay. And every single floor has these electronic pass things that you have to use to get through the glassdoors. And now, they say they're making security even tighter. I'm not sure how they can do that without frisking everyone who comes in the building. Then again, it IS safe. German parent company...
(I'm still glad I'm now in Santa Monica in this small office, where I just need an electronic key to park my car in the garage nad a normal everyday key to get in the office and another to use the ladies room).
Long Story Short: be safe, kiddo, okay?

That sounds pretty much like how things are in the EC buildings. (My dad works there.)
