Never quite did understand the seperation people make in their minds between 'media' fanfic and 'lit' fanfic. Is it because books are the creation of one person, whereas media characters are a collaboration of script writers? Then what about movies based on books?

Movies based on books mean the author sold the rights to the book which means the book (though not everything by the author) becomes multiple...
