Have survived LotR marathon. Full details will follow after I've showered and nuked some of yesterday's pasta. For now, a short, non-spoilery summary:

Number of times cried troughout all three movies: 32 (approximately)
Number of times cried during RotK: 17 (approximately)
Number of times cried during RotK, not because of hobbitses: 3

Rosie Cotton is one lucky woman.

And somebody who's seen the movie get online already so I can squee with someone. NOW?

Right, nots. Dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] riikkarocks. Part one: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring )

About half a dozen people insisted on leaving during the death scene. This did not please me. But people applauded when the closing credits came on, which was one of the many good things about watching these moies with a bunch of other LotR geeks. People applaude! They laugh out loud! They make amusing comments! Wheee!

Again dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] riikarocks, my notes on The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers )

More applause during closing credits, and then I went and had a smoke in a corner somewhere while waiting for RotK to start. Before that, though, the people of Elanor, the Belgian Tolkien Association, put up a sort of mini-LARP for us, with an Uruk-Hai looking for Sam and Frodo and sniffing the audience (including me! I got sniffed by an Uruk-Hai! Yay!), really fucking cool Nazgûl, an Aragorn who looked vaguely like Bernard Hill (Théoden), and a Sam who attacked a Nazgûl with two pots. And then Sam and Frodo hugged and the entire audience "Awwww"ed and I LOVE FAN AUDIENCES!

And then of course there was, finally, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King )

And that, as they say, is that. I can't believe it's over.
