Summary of an e-mail I just received from a customer: "Your software's user-unfriendly and complicated and kinda shite, but your support staff are ace!" Um, thanks?
Had a minor epiphany/plot bunny about the fantasy novel I'm poking at. Quick poll: would you read a fantasy novel with a knitting (mage) hero and plot that centers on (magical) knitting? (This should go in my writing journal, technically, but meh, too lazy.)

And there's a whole plot growing around it and shit, and people (knitting elves OMG!)! And STUFF! :D
And BOYS WOT KNIT!

BOYS WOT KNIT FTW.
...I need to start thinking up my NaNo because I am actually writing this year and want to do it damn it.

Exactly! So many applications for this, and there's good money to be made there, from lots of people buying the cheaper stuff, to nobles buying the luxury stuff. I'm faffing about with fitting this into the overall magic system, but I already know why weaving or spinning with magic won't work, which is good. :D
You so must do this for NaNo
I'm probably gonna do this outside of NaNo and write something else for NaNo, on the fly.
BOYS WOT KNIT FTW.
And you'd better not fuck with 'em, because knitting needles can double as weapons. *nodnod*
(Am so writing a scene where knitting boy overpowers an attacker by grabbing him from behind and threatening to stick a needle in his eye.)
( Knitters: we'll fuck your shit up if you fuck with our yarn!)

Yaye! I like doing on-the-fly stuff for NaNo, myself, because overplanning feels stifling for it. Feel free to throw random ideas at me if you need feedback, though. :D

For some reason, I am thinking of Rumplestiltzkin.
Word on the knitting needle weapons. I have sat on a knitting needle, it is Not Fun.
See, I'd try something spontaneous for NaNo, but I'm afraid I'd just freeze up.

.. BWAHAHA! Okay, I'm sorry, but bwahahahahaha.
See, I'd try something spontaneous for NaNo, but I'm afraid I'd just freeze up.
Fair 'nough. I usually just think of the kind of thing I'd like to see in books and never do, and dive into it headfirst. Because NaNo is all about self-indulgence with me. :D

*cackles* Actually it reminded me of this fic I read about that story retold from Rumplestiltzkin's pov, it was awesome and I wish I could find the link to make you flail more.
NOT FUNNY.
Yeah, I'd get performance anxiety. :P

Because the symbolism, it burns. But in a good way.

Will he enter a competition trying to beat Mrs Weasley ?
Oh wait, Mrs. Weasley already is a knitting (witch) hero who beat Mrs. Lestrange alongside Harry and the Dark Lord.
The other knitting hero was Sylvester Stallone in that sci-fi movie with Wesley Snipes : Demolition Man (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106697/). But I liked both so please give me a third :)
Btw, I've got plans for Nano too, I stole them from a 7 year old who's mom took me shopping one day and left me babysitting the kids while she was off trying sexy outfits with her boyfriend [/TMI]
At least I know how to write that part saying who I dedicate the book to. Should give me at least 20 words or so :) 49980 to go !
