*walks up to flist, grunts* Work baaaaaaad. Daystar eeeeeeevil. Melle smash?

My sleep pattern's all fucked up, gah. I was at [livejournal.com profile] dantesvendetta's and [livejournal.com profile] bracknellexile's for Mags's room-warming party until, um, ass o'clock on Saturday morning. Not that I'm complaining about the party, mine, because there was corsettage, and hot redheads, and lots of fun and alcohol, and also cupcakes! And hey, look, quotes! :D

And then, Saturday and Sunday, there was WoW. I'd been trying to grind my secondary professions up to 300, and after doing First Aid easily, fishing and cooking took a bit longer, but hey, they were earning me some money at least. So I decided to kick it up a notch, and spent two days alternating between gathering Un'Goro Soil (Morrowgrain goes for quite a bit on my server, and it's easy to hit the button every ten minutes and get either Morrowgrain or mid-level herbs), fishing STV and Ferelas1, and committing gleeful massacre in Scarlet Monastery2. End result: 200 gold. (Helped by a 40G green drop from one of my SM runs.) Once all my auctions sell, it'll likely be up to 250. Epic riding skill plus epic mount, with discount for being exalted with Stormwind3: 630 gold. If I do this right, I could have my epic mount by next weekend4. *flex*

1 With brief detour into the Barrens to fish for Deviate Fish and killing every living thing in sight in the hopes of getting a drop for the Deviate Delight recipe. One hour later, I had 18 stacks of linen cloth (which sold for a total of just under six gold, too!), a handful of AH-able greens, a good 5 gold of enchanting mats, and a kill count of =, according to the number of arrows I used, around 200, but no recipe. Sigh. It drops twice for my orc before he even hit level 20, but I get the feeling I'm gonna be farming for this on Kaiilen for a long time. :(

2 SM is a surprising amount of fun, actually. I'd only ever done the library before, so I had the key, but hadn't ever been back. Why didn't anyone tell me how much fun this place is? :D I've developed a routine of doing the graveyard first, as that's where the rare spawns are, then library, cathedral, armory, and graveyard again. So far, my favourite is the cathedral, which I like doing backwards: run through, feign death on the steps of the cathedral to shake off any aggro I caught, open door, close door behind me, kill everything inside, kill the bosses, then make my way back out, killing every living thin in my wake. Yes, including the rabbits in the courtyard. Armory is a close second, if only because after the boss fight, when the several dozen of non-elite mobs stream in, I get to just put down an AoE fire trap and kill them all with fire without lifting a finger. It's awesome.

It's a pretty good gold maker as well -- one run through the cathedral usually nets me about 5-10 gold in sellable greens, 15-20 gold in enchanting mats5, at least 5 gold in cloth6, and enough gold in vendor trash that I have a few gold left over after buying arrows7, drinks for me and meat for Kira, and repaired my armour8. Plus, I get to be nice and run lowbie guildies through it, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. :D

3 Rep-related tangent: would it make me a very bad Night Elf if I did a bunch of the lowbie dwarf quests to get exalted with Ironforge so I could get an (epic) ram, before getting more than a third through honoured with Darnassus? (And most of that rep is from turning in Morrowgrain, as well. Er.)

4At which point I will return to Outlands and commence dying even more horribly than before, since I'll have gotten used to fighting low-level mobs and will be pulling with my face even worse than usual. Crap.

5 That is, sellable ones. My current enchanting skill is 244, so SM stuff disenchants into about half mats I can still use, half mats that sell for a decent amount.

6 [insert "men of the cloth" pun here]

7 Things I Learned From Scarlet Monastery, #39: I need a new quiver. My current one is the 14-slot one I've had since level, er, 30, and that just won't do. I'm an embarrassment for hunterkind.

8 My repair bills for SM are never more than 50s, but yeah, I do get damage. See also: pulling with my face, getting overconfident and impatient and pulling a half a dozen mobs at once, "STOP RUNNING AWAY YA RED-SHIRTED BASTARDS," and of course the ever-popular multi-shot mishap.

9 Things I Learned From Scarlet Monastery, #2: Always make sure your Arcane Shot isn't on cooldown when a mob gets to about 10% health, so you can quickly dispose of them if they start running away to get help. See also footnote 8, re: face-pulling and red-shirted bastards.

Things I Learned From Scarlet Monastery, #1: Forget the Scourge, the Scarlet Crusade is all about the silly hats.:D

... Christ, that's a lot of footnotes. Um, anyway, yeah. End result of the weekend: roughly one third towards my epic mount, Cooking is up to 300, Fishing is at 291, and Enchanting is at 244 with enough mats to get up to 250 already. I'm thinking about solo'ing another instance so I can get more enchanting mats, but ZF is just slightly too much for me, and I'm not sure if there are instances that are between SM and ZF in difficulty. Uldaman, maybe? It's listed as being between SM and ZF level-wise, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything in practice. I welcome advice on this, as well as on the mount issue above.

[ETA] I knew I forgot something! More advice-whoring: if I were to start PvPing, would I be best off doing that on my level 62 NE Hunter or my level 25 Orc Rogue?[/ETA]
